They have stated what armies are getting looked at rules wise and MAF is one of them. They have also stated that there is Shasvaasti fluff in the book. We have pretty much been told, by heavy implication if not directly, not to expect Shasvaasti models or rules until next year.
Me too, I always found BoW chaps a bit phony in their enthusiasm (except of course for 'fabulous blonde mane' Killian and his late backup 'shy' Tim). All the other came out, to be kind, as a bit out of the loop and blasé - Warren instead deserves a mention for his car dealer posturing that tickles all spidey senses and forewarns lemons. All in all they have done a great service to Infinity and the hobby promoting it in the anglo-sphere, yet I believe CB splashed a great deal of monnies on them every single time. So everyone's happy now Regarding Shasvastii I had my part in assuaging expectations by my fellow CA player, anyway he got it well as it got instead so much love for his OSS and Yu Jing (heck yeah every Infinity player here nowadays got more than an army, it is too easy fall into)
Obligatory reminder BoW vids are aimed at new people, and CB's channel has way less exposure to new players without relying on existing players sharing 'em. BoW have plenty of room to improve on the vids, but the facts are, they're not really aimed at us veteran players first and foremost. Third Offensive, as an expansion, is aimed more at existing players, so it makes sense for CB to do it themselves rather than crowd out BoW with another video week so soon after Coldfront.
The last time a faction of the Combined Army got updated background material, it was the Exrah. Just sayin’.
Here's hoping! But seriously, some discord in the ranks would be a pretty good way for the third offensive to have come to a halt without total victory. CA do damage, but pausing to rein in Shasvaasti shenanigans means they don't take Paradiso outright, as well as actually present a significant setback and lifeline to Humanity and to a lesser extent the Tohaa, since they'll now possibly have more meatshields allies.
Interesting point. Well, let me put it this way: CB has a narrative plot already scheduled for 2019 and the overall theme is essentially CA pushing the Human Sphere more than ever. All the pressure and tension will take the factions to boiling point. If someone has to show some cracks among their ranks that is humanity and Tohaa. In terms of storytelling, It's not the moment for CA to show any weakness or exhaustion. Ok? Ok? Ok?
I think between the promise of updated background and Aida Swanson, the future for Shasvastii is looking pretty good. Honestly, I'm expecting them to be one of the first armies to see an update in 2019. I'm also getting the feeling that these books aren't an aberration, and we can expect smaller and more frequent books for the next while, rather than really big releases every 18-24 months like they used to.
I'd rather have the generally higher quality of the 18-24 month release cycle, but a new expansion book every year would be really cool. The good news is that with the Paradiso Campaign in 3rd Offensive, we're finally caught up with N2 and have nothing but new fluff coming now.
This fits my theory that the next book is going to be about the CA pushing into the Human Sphere, disrupting supply routes and generally dominating space. Spearheaded by the Shas who we know have been infiltrating the HS on a massive scale (see the Nomad ship infestation in Wotan(? Pretty sure it was Wotan) and Aida Swanson). This sets the stage for their rework. It brings Tunguska into the story so we can get some background for them. It also could draw in Corregidor, Bakunin and QK, all of whom have been rumoured as potentially for the chop. I suspect they'll give them all reworks like we've just seen for Morats, Acon and MO and one of them (QK I'd guess) is getting MRRF'd. If QK get MRRF'd then Ramah can come to the fore. We've seen some new stuff for them in the last year or so with the starter box and Hakims, they can't be far away.
Shasvastii are the Skrulls of Infinity. You wrote something horribly out of character for a faction or just stupid? No worries, it was Skrulls
I haven't looked at one in forever, do they still induce motion sickness and/or epileptic fits like the JSA reveal?
Thing with the Nomads is, the older minis CB could scrap account for slightly more boxes and blisters than they free up with Acon, across all three sectorials - yes, even Tunguska. The Daktari and loose N2 style interventor are afaik two good selling minis so won't go away unless being totally scrapped (though the interventor could be canned any time with there being new ones - my bet is she gets replaced in the Grenzer box), but many others could be scrapped without much protest. I for one wouldn't mind losing the older Corrigedor starter and loose intruder sniper (though I have a sneaking suspicion it sells well too), the Lizard, old support pack (replacing it may be more likely since they can put a new cat-doc in rather than Bighair McPerm and Baggy Trousers Engineer), sin eater sniper, wildcat spitfire and rocket, Morans, double-blistering the Bandits, same with the custodiers, clears 11 spaces. Maybe just outright scrap to replace later with the custodiers since they're old, and also bin Bran and Kusanagi pending new versions (I think a clever move would be to redo Kusanagi in a box with two new Custodiers and maybe even a multirifle healer/just merge the BS healer in with them - she works well in a fireteam after all) and boom, you've got like 14 new SKU spaces. And that's not even going completely mad with it like I suggested in another thread and planning a whole long term revamp of the entire faction to get everything to N3 standards. The other issue is, so far these halt in production moves have been to make room for a new Sectorial. What new Sectorial do Nomads have? Just new Tunguska stuff - and putting Corrigedor or Bakunin on hiatus entirely to make room for that simply isn't necessary. Add on that much of Corrigedor has overlap with StarCo and there's some units almost certainly safe there. So to me it looks way more likely if a Sectorial is getting entirely hiatus'd, its QK, since there's Ramah AND Khanate possibly coming. Plus QK's rather lost their hat as the "merc faction" now NA2 exist so their faction might need a larger revamp down the line.
Eh... Any idea what I could use those models for, then? I've sent @Koni a question regarding their fate back in January 2015 on DataSphere (when it was still officially suported, and Koni was posting there, altohugh rarely), as the models were not officially listed as discontinued pending N3 (as you recall, there was a list of the discontinued catalog entires, including those that were to be resculpted). The PM remains in my outbox, as it never got opened by the recipent... and the mdoels remain in my display cabinet as a sad memento...
That's not going to do, they look nothing like Muyibs. They're HI. And yes, I have enough Muyibs to field any weapon option... using the 2ed sculpts.
Well, I'm out of ideas then. And in fairness, they don't look too HI, they can easily pass as LI and MI IMO. But yeah, really not a lot they can be now is there. Won't work as Druze or Brawler proxies either, will they?
