Jesus FUCK man, the conversation is moving along from outrage into bargaining and slowly inching towards acceptance and you're calling that a dumpster fire. What's wrong with you?
You're putting in the work my man, but I think it is beyond saving. The pulse is just too out of rhythm.
Dropped the ball on what? Appeasing a bunch of people who feel entitled to "compensation"? Sure. Quite a few being about the same 5 people that shit on basically everything yu jing related since uprising?
As opposed to the other 5 guys forming the CB did nothing wrong defense team because they are perfect and never make blatantly obvious mistakes?
It is my opinion this thread needs to calm down a lot. I find the tile of the thread ironic, "post mortem" on what exactly? get all the profiles, get the links, play it and then come to deliver judgement.
I thought this was interesting, but on double checking I don't know where your numbers are from? A fraacta is 28 points for BSG and nanopulsar. Liu Xing is 32. That nets you +1 BS, +1 WIP, +2 Arm, and +2 PH after fraacta takes a wound. and explode Lx. You also gain hacking vulnerability. and 'lose' nanopulsar. That doesn't seem crazy, and just emphasises that being an HI generally doesn't come with discounts and increases SWC costs, as the spitfire has a similar difference, but 0.5 SWC more.
What, wait for all of the relevant information to be in before making judgments and definitive pronouncements? Perish the thought!
How about enticing customers to be excited for their product? You know they're not entitled to our money, right?
If comparing the BSG for both, the +1 WIP is irelavent and +2 PH are the same for the purpose of landing. Which is the more important thing.
Well, yeah. They make the product they think is best, present it in the manner they think is best, and you determine if you wish to purchase it or not.
You are correct on prices, I had the points costs of the Zhencha in my head when writing that. All in all, I think the ExplodeX rule needs to redeem the Liu Xing even with the points cost being much closer. I'm a tougher sell on AD troopers than most people, though, since I consider Tigers merely of mediocre value due to order inefficiency. The Liu Xing isn't so bad, as long as they stay consistent in not making actual heavy infantry drop trooper.
People are also severely underestimating the ability to literally just drop a template anywhere I'd gladly pay 40 points for that And if it follows the rules for explode and goes off at the end of the order it's straight up bonkers
Bonkers and brutal, especially depending on how much the DAM is... react to the drop offensively, or Change Facing to deal with the Explode: LX? Nasty.
@Brother Smoke people are also severely underestimating how much worse hacking vulnerability is on drop troops.
The thread will update, change, and stand after the information rollout completes. It's easier to manage it as it comes out piecemeal rather than trying to do it all at once. If hypothetically the end product resembles ISS in strength, then the thread will evolve to reflect that in positive tone. If CB continue to release mostly questionable, some outright garbage, and one good profile per unit entry, then the thread will probably continue as is. Ball's in @Bostria 's court to release some information as positive as what Pan-O are getting right now, not give us confusing and questionable garbage teasers like a rule nobody knows how it functions. Or at least do something to show that IA has some kind of countermeasure to their big problem which is getting destroyed by hacking.
Why? because the hacker decided to stay inside the goomba stomp zonetm and paralyze the guy as he comes in? I'm totally cool with that. The hacker will probably die, as well as anyone around him Alternatively, just don't drop him near hackers, but instead drop him right on top of a bunched up link
I mean 1 WIP might be irrelevant to you and PH isn't just used for dropping but OK. You do you in finding ways to be unhappy. The comparison continues to spec profiles. Liu Xing is also veteran (IRC) which counts for classifieds and hunting party. But I don't think thats factored into costs.
For 32 points you could drop on someones Lt or the puppermaster in nomads. The most likely cost to this is IMM-1 from a regular hacker. Theres value in that, is it auto-take/everyone needs to change army composition. Not really, but its a tactical option that tigers do not bring. The specialist being able to tank single AROs is also something worth sniffing at. For 38 points its a hard sell, but there may be synergies in the army we're yet to see.
