Chinese characterization(无敌军,無敵軍) of IA sounds bad to Asian users. Well... 'No enemy army'? The word doesn't seem fully express the nuance of 'Invincible Army'.
It's just a matter of awkward expression and nuance. A word '无敌=無敵'(unrivaled, matchless) has very powerful nuance on its own, but combining with '军=軍'(army) gives an unnatural impression without any grammatical elements. Personally, I think 常胜军(=Ever Victorious Army) with historical context is more appropriate to IA.
It's how it was called originally, I wonder if they forgot. Either way, Wu di has been their translation for Invincible since the Zuyong Logo.
Wouldn't surprise me. I mean they also "forgot" Daofei were always the force recon of the IA after all. You know what's also odd? The Zencha has the same White Banner style logo as the Daofei who was getting left out because... well, we still don't actually know. But folks pointed to that WB-style logo on the Daofei as some kind of proof that it wasn't supposed to be in the IA. Now the Zencha, and overstuffed SK profile that can be hacked comes along with the same logo colour palette and... Why can't we have a Daofei? Fuck, I'll trade the Liu Xing for it at this point! Speaking of forgetting, what the hell happened to the Tigers in IA? Is this another typo/oversight or did they just decide to can the idea without telling anyone (should make for a ton of happy players that decided to bite the bullet based on the Red Veil dossier and paint Tigers up as IA units). Them also having an apparently wrong name is just sort of a half-arse cherry on top of the uninspiring sundae that was the reveal video.
Regarding the Zencha. Has anyone tried to compare him with Dart? Because it's exactly the same only that for the same points Dart gets + MSV1 , Bioimmunity and she's unhackable. Seriously, Zencha is missing Bioimmunity.
Yeah, there is definitely something weird going on with the Zencha's points. It compares not at all favourably to Dasyu or Dart while performing a very similar role to both and it appears to be paying some kind of built-in HI premium on things despite not really being HI (does CB's HI costing automatically assume 2W? That seems like a massive oversight). The more I analyze these new units the worse they look in the grand scheme of things. *ugh* Zencha definitely need some kind of immunity to not just completely waste the presence of NWI. They're literally just a hackable version of things Aleph already does better.
I don't see any problem here. "无敌" is a really common and natural way to say "invincible" in mandarin (although it's not the only way to translate invincible). As a native mandarin speaker, I certainly don't get the impression that it means "no enemy"!
Historically, "Ever Victorious Army" is the force commanded by British officers to crush the Taiping Rebellion in the 19th century and were operated more like as a mercenary force. Although they were effective in combat, modern Chinese history doesn't have a very favorable view of it. The Ever Victorious Army is more commonly seen as a pawn of Western imperialism. I don't think the Communist Party would name their new force after them....
Speculation on Hulang Shocktroopers... I'm assuming a TAG since it is after the Guijia, but before the recon unit. Zhencha might be SK after all. Then again, could be another topped out S2 HI with a crap ton of gear... Or another Mowang, read S5 HI.
Tiger logo + Shocktrooper designation says close-range weapons/DTW to me. New CC specialist, especially after the loss of the Oniwaban? A flamethrower feels like it would fit the shocktrooper title and is reminiscent of the Tiger soldiers.
Crazy speculation - maybe we'll get an HI biker too!? Mmm, HI warband unit eh? Something with a frenzy discount would be cool, though that doesn't really fit IA's professional military feel.
IMO either they are more big boi s5, hence the duo like the yan huo or they are cheap with gear/stats like the SMG wu Ming kitted for cqc, hence the only ava 2.
I'd like a CQC style unit. Meant to get in close and be annoying as hell. Packs a DA weapon. Maybe MA1. Could have a LFT/HFT. I didn't think that way about Armoured Cavalry, but Squalo are called that. Bike would be neat. Damn Tunguska Zondnautica makes me want a hybrid HI on Bike/BuddyBot. Or derivative of a Sujian. It does read like another S5 duder. Not upset about it, but that does feel like Yu Jing new schtick. So, with Yan Huo, Mowang, and these fellars that puts us at 3. Nomads and Haqq have two a piece.
I always thought S5 infantry meant they were lower-tech - couldn't miniaturize the tech well enough. But if we follow that logic, that means our S5 infantry are so high-tech, we couldn't figure out how to fit them on a S2 frame. Imagining what that might entail is pretty exciting heh. The HMRC Yan Huo was one of the things that got me into YJ in the first place.
Haqq and Ariadna ones are low tech, but that is not true for every S5, Yan Huo for example is S5 because it has to be big enough to carry miniaturized TAG weapons.
See, for me it was the Shang Ji. Waaay back when. It was top of the line, even when compared to the Dao Fei, and now you got things like the Yan Huo that fit TAG weaponry on an HI frame.
