Personally I don't run the Fusilier ML that often anymore. It forces your Lt to hang out with the Link which can be quite bad with all the LGLs and Impersonation around.
Alternatively the ML will just get punked effortlessly by something like a Spetznaz, KB or a linked HMG. Unless I'm setting a trap with a Swiss ML or Hexa MSR I don't bring the ML and settle for the HMG to spend the SWC elsewhere, like on a Garuda Spitfire.

Actually got the idea from JSA, where I also cut the ML due to SWC issues. Having a full Core Linked LI HMG ready on a rooftop for area denial and counter attacks puts your opponent in a bad spot.
PanO usually only has so many troops with SWC weapons on the board. 2 HMGs/Spitfires, MSR and ML is all you can fit in most of the time. Dropping the Fusilier ML essentially gives you a 3rd B4 gun to cover an additional firelane.

    • Throwing Weapon. This weapon can make BS Attacks, but uses the PH Attribute in place of BS. When using this weapon, consider all rules and MODs that would affect the trooper's BS as affecting his PH Attribute instead.
BS Attack Aros with Drop Bears work just fine without breaking the Link. You have to throw them though, otherwise you're indeed using the Drop Bear Skill which might cause someone to drop out of the Link. BS Attacks with Drop Bears are also Normal Rolls, so it might not be the best idea depending on circumstances.

No. Dropbears have 2 modes. One is BS attack other one is to "deploy dropbear".

You cannot mix 2nd type with other BS attacks, but first one is totally fine.

Being a complete beginner this article is immensely helpful in planning future purchases and getting a few basic ideas about how to use each unit.

Concerning the new Deva hacking profile I would also like to point out, that in the PDF it comes with an Assault Hacking Device, while the army builder shows it with a Killer Hacking Device. I have no clue how this affects its usefulness, just saying that there seem to be some major discrepancies between pdf and app in this regard.

Thanks for taking the time to read. The Assault Device is a brand-new release, something that's featured as part of the new ALEPH Sectorial that just came out this month. There are some discussions as to whether or not all the new Deva profiles will be available to NCA (as you see, the PDF says one thing, the Army Builder indicates another.) If we receive them officially, I'll write them up as part of the core article. For now, it just covers the Standard Hacking Device that Devas had prior to their new update.

    Speaking of newly added things...
Any chance Aida Swanson will get a write-up here eventually, now that she is an option for NCA lists?

Certainly. I need a little tabletop experience with her first. I find practical experience always helps focus the dialog when discussing a unit. It's easy to look at her capabilities, but I want some experience with Scavenger in particular. I'd welcome any reports/anecdotes from folks who have used her.

    That's fair.
I feel like a lot of people will need to start finding out how Scavenger works now, since every faction now gets some form of access to it.

Just had some sort of idea for a list using a defensive Bolt link and a very aggressive Lieutenant option.

[IMG] Just a random idea for a defensive Bolt link list.
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    [IMG]10
[IMG] SQUALO (Armored Cav.) Lieutenant MULTI HMG / AP Heavy Pistol. (2 | 93)
[IMG] [IMG] CRABBOT Flash Pulse / Knife. ()
[IMG] BOLT MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 26)
[IMG] BOLT Missile Launcher, Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 27)
[IMG] BOLT Combi Rifle + Light Shotgun, Drop Bears / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 25)
[IMG] BOLT Combi Rifle + Light Shotgun, Drop Bears / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 25)

    [IMG] MACHINIST Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 15)
    [IMG] PALBOT Electric Pulse. (0 | 3)

    5.5 SWC | 300 Points

    Open in Infinity Army

Pathfinders are speedy enough to both potentially run out to push a button, and to drag a Repeater up to the Squalo, in case it gets possessed.
There's a KHD to kill enemy hackers with, and a Machinist to maybe try fixing the Squalo every once in a while.
The link it very basic in nature: a sniper rifle and a missile launcher for defense, the sniper being decent in the even you'd need it for some active turn duty. Also, only two orders would be needed to toss out all the Drop Bears to make a defensive net.

I think this might be decent, perhaps?

Opinions needed! I'm running quite a normal NCA army with some Fusiliers, Hexas, Swiss HMG, Auxilias, the usual stuff. I've used all of my SWC and have about 23-24p to burn. I might be able to go to 28p if really needed. I'm looking for an aggressive piece to use my second command groups about five orders. And I'm really struggling here as I like all the things that I could get in that category. Namely we have:

[IMG] BULLETEER Heavy Shotgun / Electric Pulse. (0 | 17)

The cheapest one, but doesn't start up the board and is probably little too hard to transport there without getting killed. ODD is pretty darn good though and you can get one more regular order with extra points.

    [IMG] PEACEMAKER Heavy Shotgun + AUXBOT_3 / Electric Pulse. (0 | 21)
    [IMG] [IMG] AUXBOT_3 Heavy Flamethrower / Electric Pulse. (- | 4)

Now this looks promising! Starting up the board is nice, Auxbot is really nice. Lacking ODD is not so nice. Also there are many scenarios with exclusion zones that stymie the advance of this pair.

[IMG] GARUDA Tacbot Boarding Shotgun / Electric Pulse. (0 | 21)
[IMG] GARUDA Tacbot Combi Rifle / Electric Pulse. (0 | 22)

Uuu AD. Still probably it's not a good idea to jump. I don't have any pluses available and even without transport hacking it's still just 55% chance. Sure you can win the game right there if you ace the roll, but is it worth it? And also I really want to like Boarding Shotgun, but is it too risky with hackers around? And combi could go to suppressive fire...

AÏDA SWANSON 2 Submachine Gun, Viral Mines / Viral Pistol, Shock CC Weapon, Knife. (0 | 24)

Now Aida also seems very nice. She doesn't start that far up the table but laying some Viral Mines is probably a good use of orders in the first turn if you don't find rambo route for her. Also two SMGs with Mimetism kill people dead when close enough.

[IMG] BLACK FRIAR (Albedo, Biometric Visor L1) MULTI Rifle, Nanopulser, Drop Bears / Pistol, CC Weapon. (0 | 28)

With Bravery from ITS X Black Friar gets Forward Deployment L1, but it's still quite slow. Better range brackets than Aida though and Drop Bears can be better than those Viral Mines if you are good at rolling dice...

So as said I'm really not sure what to get to fill my list. So amongst there choices which are your favorites and why? Thanks in advance!

It really depends on the rest of the list, and the mission.

    What else are you running?

    And for which missions?

So it seems that those new Deva profiles that came with OSS are now also live on NCA! Save that Haris profile of course. But boy, that AHD with Lightning? That's pretty nasty!

Any of the choices you listed are quite good. The Peacemaker's nice and versatile... It's just as useful in defense as it is in attack, and it gives you a close quarter fighter that works well with your long-range hitters.

The Garuda is amazing. I find opponents generally don't expect it, and it's obviously perfectly optimized for raiding a DZ as long your opponent isn't running a lot of Hackers.

NCA is now the proud owner of one of the very, very few good AHDs.
With IA coming up and being light on capable KHDs (the Camo Infiltrator and AD guy don't have one, which makes it unlikely they'll have a mobile one or one with Surprise Shot outside of Cybermask), that Deva will be pretty damn great pretty fast.

At least for me it's going to replace the Hexa KHD as first choice almost immedeately.

Thanks for the input in my list up there! I have to come back to that now that we have some other options to go through. Now I'm wondering would it be worth it to break Swiss Guard HMG up to Hexa Spitfire and to Deva AHD and still have ten points to spare. Because boy that Deva looks tempting, but that 0.5 SWC is so incredibly difficult to come by. I still want to run my Fusi-link with MSR/ML and HMG with Hexa MSR.

Good post. The challenge I have for myself is finding room for that .5 SWC cost.

Swiss HMG + Fusi HMG + Fusi Missile + Hexa Sniper
    2 + 1 + 1.5 + 1.5 =6

That's pretty neat and convenient. I'll have to figure out what goes in order to keep that functional.

This is a pretty awesome boost for NCA.

Not going to lie, I'm VERY glad that the people who claimed we weren't getting this were wrong.

That Deva with the AHD+Lightning alone is a big deal, but the FO Deva is also a sweet option.

This is a lovely unexpected gift. However I'm still lamenting the fact that we didn't get the Bolt point cost rework we were wishlisting when we got wind of a tune up coming in November. Oh well. Once Svalheima comes in next year (?), it'll probably be NCA in the cooler given they just released an MO box. At least we'll get an update then
