As does Muyib in the Hassassin Starter Box (utterly failed weapon design IMO, but I happily use the old one).
Yeah, they wanted to sell the hacker separately so FRRM players could buy it, so had no excuses - the idea of a paramedic mini hadn't crossed their mind I guess.
Bolt Paramedic in Beyond Box, Volunteer in Caledonian Starter (or the SWC Box), Upcoming Dakini-Box ... I´ll wait for the first FO-Mini ;-)
All of those came after the Alguaciles box by quite a significant chunk of time. We've gotten at least one... Foxtrot Ranger from the USARF set was specifically called out as repping the FO profile in terms of its pose.
Yep, they came after by a bit, Bolt was first in 2016? Meanwhile, USARF can kinda-sorta have one other than the Foxtrot with the walkie takie (He's got a real gun too, it's not the 2002 remaster of ET), if they take parts from the Marauders, but the binoculars the Rocket and Sniper seem to have may actually be their Multispectral "visor"! Making a dedicated FO may be as simple as something on the side of the gun, actually. A little PEQ box type thing, a true laser designator that can be that small isn't implausible even today, think some are in the works. And it can also be made more powerful to fire the flash pulse .
On a ridiculous segue related to FO. I was assembling the new Aleph remotes last night and I was staring at the Lamedh chin-mount struggling to think why it looked so familiar. Then it hit me, the flash-pulse was the same design as the Tanko blitzen/pistol (I went and compared them side by side, not a perfect match, but so close as to be spooky). Got me wondering if the Tanko were supposed to have the FO profile instead of the Domaru, only for a last minute swap. Anyway, wanted to get that off my chest.
I remember when making a conversion meant that the official model would be released soon... Sad times we live in. Yeah, they'll go somewhere into the faction's release queue. A good indication is concept art - if we know the design/look of a model and/or a dossier gets posted, it means it might be released sooner.
Hey, since you're talking about them, is the Lamedh the one in the images we've seen of the models with the two connected boxes on one side and the little thing on the other? Because that's either a Lamedh's scanners and laser designator, or a Zayin's ammo boxes and a really anemic HMG, and I'm really hoping it's the former, with a Zayin's weapons looking appropriately chunky.
The two painted ones we have seen are the Zayin and the Samekh. The twin box on one side, gun barrel on the other, is the Zayin HMG and its gun is scaled the same as infantry HMGs (slightly stubby without a stock and pistol grip, but not over- or under-sized). The obvious missile pods are the Samekh. The Lamedh and Daleth both have a dome on their left with a barrel on the right, the Lamedh has the aforementioned flashpulse/blitzen pistol while the Daleth has a cut down combi rifle (like the HMG, stubby without a stock and pistol grip, but scaled the same as infantry weapons).
Okay, thanks for the info. I hope the HMG looks better in person than it does in photos, but hopefully (another important question here) the new Rebots are easier to get combat-ready than the old ones? Not that the old ones were especially difficult, except for the issue of getting all four legs to both touch the ground and fit on a 40mm base. Also, I magnetised the two old Rebots I have, with about seven magnets apiece just on the tail module to take the different loadouts - the new ones look like they should require far fewer magnets, but things can look easy to magnetise but be designed in such a way they're a real pain - how do their prospects for magnetising look?
The bodies are 2-part, the upper carapace and a lower "spine" on which it sits (the legs are easy to assemble and fit really well). The chin mounted weapons all slot into the "spine" at the front, into a hook-like depression. The weapons are all single-piece with a thin mounting bar which actually glues in place. While you could easily assemble and paint without mounting a weapon, as there is room to slot it in afterwards, it's a close fit so you'd be scraping paint regularly. Basically, not magnet friendly without a lot more conversion than I'd prefer.
I had thought about putting magnets in them, but decided that if I was going to be running rebots, it's an all or (almost) nothing thing... I'd either be running just a Zayin (or maybe Samekh), or running 2xDaleth, 2xLamedh and then either/both Zayin and Samekh... so got 3 boxes of the things
I'm not a magnet user (I own 2 old lamedh and 2 old zayin and used the new ones to do samek and daleth) but could'nt you simply cut the weapon away from their mounting bars and magnetize it ? It's just 8 cut to do and 12 magnet to put to have all option magnetized
Did anyone else see the amazing, brand new Combined Army items they're flogging on the FB+Twitter today? Man! Who knew we'd get new Shasvastii today! /sarcasm
The mounting bar is thin, really thin (and has a slightly skewed L-shaped cross section). The 2 mm diameter magnets I generally use are too large to fit. You might make it work with a 1 mm magnet, but realistically I'm looking at buying at least one more box as I'll likely want 4 Rebots so there is very little cause for me to try and magnetise.
