    Hello
So I'm returning Infinity player. Been off for about a year. I mainly play Aleph and Tohaa, but I've ordered Coldfront and wanna also use the Tartary models.

So I'm looking for some advice. I know Tartary are very new (some profiles don't have models) but as someone who hasn't even played Ariadna before (Though been interested) I'm was wondering if people would be able to offer general advice and help with some questions.

Such as what sort of Core link team should I be looking at? Kazak, veterans, or Frontovik?
When the VetKazak profile says "wildcard" does that means could have a fireteam like this?

[IMG] LINE KAZAK Paramedic (MediKit) Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 11)
[IMG] LINE KAZAK Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 9)
[IMG] FRONTOVIK Engineer T2 Rifle, Light Rocket Launcher, D-Charges / Assault Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 33)
[IMG] VETERAN KAZAK AP HMG / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (2 | 47)

Because the Kazak is wildcard trooper do they replace the Line Kazak so I can take a Frontovik?

Finally what sort of Leuitenant should I look for? I'm at a bit lost. Maybe it's because Aleph and Tohaa both have really obvious LT choices it wanst as hard. Tartary and Ardina, in general, is a harder choice for me.

I know these are fairly vague questions but I would like to see what people say. Thanks
Edit: accidentally had 6 people in the fireteam, not 5. Thanks for pointing that out. Don't know how I missed that.

There is one Frontovik to much.
A Fireteam may only consist of 5 members.

Wildcard troopers don't add to a fireteam. They replace one member.

IMO Voronin is a good LT option.
    Or Vassily.

It strongly depends, on what you want do do with said fireteam. Given Veteran Kazak Wildcard status I think we will see full Veteran fireteam very rarely, as it's much easier to start with a Line Kazak (budget option) or Frontovik (elite option) team as a base, and then add Veterans to bolster combat power while keeping things fairly cheap.

Lose one Frontovik (you can exchange him for a Veteran), and this is perfectly valid Core fireteam. I was using something very similar recently, just with Vet Lt. HMG and HRL Frontovik.

I think these will be the prime choices:

[IMG] VETERAN KAZAK Lieutenant AP HMG / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (1 | 47)
    [IMG] VASSILY Lieutenant (Forward Observer) T2 Marksman Rifle, Akrylat-Kanone, D-Charges / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (0 | 35)
[IMG] VASSILY Lieutenant (Forward Observer) T2 Sniper, D-Charges / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (1 | 35)
[IMG] LINE KAZAK Lieutenant Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 9)

Keep in mind that TAK can easily afford having an obvious or combat-oriented Lt, because of access to awesome - and camouflaged! CoC options. Imagine Myrmidon Officer with Camo. Yes, this level of awesome.

In general TAK looks very much like a glass hammer. It's powerful and then some in the attack, but its units aren't particularly durable. Expect depending on Ambush Camo and warbands - including camo ones, like Antipodes - to slow enemy down, then launching a counterstrike.

If it's a Line Kazak fireteam then there can only be one Frontovik in it. If it's a Frontovik fireteam then no Line Kazaks can be part of it. And no fireteam can include more then 5 models. So if you remove onc of the Frontoviks from the list you have a legal fireteam.

I'd probably start with either a Line Kazak or Frontovik core fireteam, then add 1/2 Vet Kazaks. At the moment, I'm inclined for the Frontoviks cos they can bring a 112 as well.

Although I'm also going to try a Haris and/or Duo of Vet Kazaks in addition for flanking or aggressive missions; take the Mk12 for active turn gunfire, then fill with a FO and - if necessary - the Haris load-out. When all of them behave like a 4-man link anyway, you don't really need more than 2 or 3!

    Welcome to the Kazak life!

Depends on what you want to get out of it but 99% of the time it will be lines or fronties with at least one vet leading the way

Absolutely, the vet can squeeze himself into any team replacing one of the members

The world is your oyster! Line kazaks are great because if you take a gaggle of them literally any could be the LT, then you also have the option of using an aggressive one with COC or even a camoed up scout, don't knock it til you've tried it

    Welcome to Ariadna Comrade!

In my experience the line kazak paramedic is a bit disappointing, if only because for measly amount of points you can go with the kazak doctor or the 112. No longer a part of your link, but you get a better specialist for ensuring that your mini's stay in the fight. I prefer to go with the FO line kazaks for specialists in links, cheaper, still a specialist, and you have the freedom to have the doctor where and when you need them.

Keep in mind, while the line kazaks can bulk out your fireteam on the cheap, in game the cutting corners can show. If your enemy is able to slice the pie against the line kazaks, they can drop the effectiveness of the team very fast compared to the killing machine that is the vet.

As for LT options... they aren't extremely clear cut and that's something I've come to appreciate. TAK has a lot of options to hide their LT. with the scout or tankhunter sitting as a token that can put up a fight in a pinch. I've found that this can become aggregating for your opponent once you start enjoying our now plentiful ambush camo, or our shiny new minelayers. Alternatively you can play the shell game forcing your opponent o choose which line kazak to try and assassinate if you just want line kazaks sitting around as orders. On top of that we do have a reasonably priced Chain of Command tank hunter, something that lets a vet hmg lieutenant go enjoy his LT. order without risking it crippling further turns.

I haven't used his new shotgun load out, but in my experience Veronin has been a tough sell as a Lt. because we have extremely strong options to for mitigating risk of loss of lt. and he's an extremely obvious and vulnerable target. When I've taken him I've sadly been disappointment, which is a shame because I got him from the kickstarter as an HVT and I also have his regular version.

My biggest gripe with the colonel is his stupid base size. If he was S2 he would be an auto-take for me

There is a lot of people who wanted him to be s2 with his antipode as a separate base. Which I agree would've considerably helped his suitability. He's just difficult to hide in the back in a safe and cozy command post to provide orders.

The camo rules, and the AVA of the camo units you have available :D

TBH you know all there is to know to be good with ariadna, and TAK. cheap link to cheer the vet kazak, strelok spam, mandatory spetsnaz, line kazaks for orders and the occasional flash pulse, and then maybe a unit of antipodes to sweep up camo (the way I did last tournament).

Ironically, you'll find TAK has some of the best answers to other ariadna lists.

My biggest gripe with him is his stat-line; everything's just average except for his WIP. Basically, he looked like someone you'd only want as a Lt for Strategos, as he can't really do much else.
Although now he can get Sensor means I'm more inclined to include him in a fireteam just in case to handle all of that pesky camo.

Now everyone's an NCO, and the LT order doesn't break links. Also you are giving your opponent fun time while he's guessing whichcamo marker hides the CoC (and the Spetsnaz, the Autocannon, the doggos, the shotgun or SMG strelok and the mines).

    Moar noob questions:

On Antipodes: for 10 pts you get a cheerleader and a smoke launcher (with better BS than in Pano), for the other 15 pts you get 3 camo tokens. Issue with the dogs is when your opponent sees the controller, he'll know that for each controller, 3 of your camo tokens are antipodes. Which still ads a lot to the guessing game, but also a lot of information. Also when either dog or the controller dies, there's 50% the whole pack will just run away (the next active turn, just like Frenzy or actual Retreat). Still until that you have two good turns.

Anyone noticed that Antipodes are more effective at doing the Fugazi sensor trick than actual Fugazi (same 6-6MOV, but with camo, and built in coordinated sensor instead of deploy sniffer + sensor)?

I suppose Pavel is a dogface in the making?

It seems Tankhunters are pretty much overshadowed by Spetsnaz and Vet Kazaks (especially in links), do they have use apart from the CoC (which is cheapish and has perfect defense with marker state?

Why do 112 exist in TAK? And why are they linkable while the doktors aren't? Who thought this is a good idea?

Frontovniks are the medium Kazaks between the Vets and the cannon fodders, though on the more expensive side. Which one is the cool loadout? T2 ammo is cool, it's a lot like DA, but I'd rather have it on marksmanrifle than on regular rifle. Rocket launchers especially on specialist options are always cool, so is the AP Spitfire. All seem a bit expensive though.

I suppose Frontovnik link is the only way to put a doctor in a Vet Kazak link, which will be expensive. Maybe the 4Line + Vet + doctor outside the link is the way to go.

Fun fact about Voronin, while he's already pretty cheap, you can slap it in your favorite AP HMG Vet Kazak link, so you cave a Line Kazak there.

The opponent will know anyway by the size of the camo tokens

Oh yes, it makes up for the lack of any MSV higher than 1

    Nope, just a regular dude

Autocannons are really nice, the APHMG has its uses since it now can forward deploy, and burst 2 surprise glue guns are nice to have in Hunting Party

Beats me, really strange design decision

Fronties are really nice and their price tag reflects it. You can't expect bs12 mimetic veterans with a t2 rifle and assault pistol base for less, PanO would riot.
The fact that you can include one in a line link with a vet is straight up magical. Need long range templates? HRL. Need a specialist? Paramedic. Need D-Charges? Engineer. Need a long range ARO machine/ODD remover? Sniper. Want another link? Haris.
If the LRL weren't so costly I would always take it in core links.

Personally I don't really do a lot of doctoring when playing Ariadna, but if I did, I would do it in a frontie link.

    Vet + Voronin + 112 + 2front link is something I have been considering

    Yeah, forgot that.

It's actually not that big loss. It's expensive, takes lots of orders, still need to shoot it down. Then you are just discovering mines or empty ambush tokens or whatnot. It's just more effective to sensor half the table, and see what's what.

    That's a nice idea.

What I miss here is flamethrowers. Though Vet Kazaks has LFT, that's something.

Doesn't matter, we do that anytime, all the time.

Never used Voronin myself - didn't really see a point if I could just grab 2 line kazaks for much more survivability and lower cost.

Thanks for your replies everyone (sorry been so slow I've been very busy over the last few days.
Coldfront has arrived. Looking forward to making my Ariadna.
I also because it was going cheap and had been thinking of it for a while, getting the USbattleforce. Partly because it's the army that interested me in Ariadna, but also because I think some of their models could make nice standings or conversions for some of the older models I really don't like.
An example I think the Devil dog looks way better than a dogface model (I prefer the pose and the look). Shame about the pistol but I can try to do something about that. I could say its human form is the Minuteman model the box, hack off the fuel tanks form his flamethrowers to make "chain rifles"
Grunts could make some nice more stand out models. Like the Dozers and the 112 (they have backpacks so add stuff on to make it look like their hauling around their gear) The female Grunt could have the look of annoyed Engineer/doctor. "Ohh you got shot... again."
I know Ariadna has different subfractions who are supposed to have their own distinct looks. But Ardina is a fraction where customisation and mish-mashed guerilla fighters would look cool.
For moment I'm playing about with list ideas.

Also on Voronin, It's not a big loss for me I didn't like the actual model. Liked the idea of a leader figure having a giant wolf as their bodyguard.

Strategos L1 means you have 11 orders in your order group, not 10. That's big. +2 orders is nice, but 11 orders is nicer.

Only in LI. if you can get to 13 or 14 orders then the 2 Kazaks could be better

I disagree. 11 order on the main attack piece can be better than extra 2 order on some random dude you may or may not use. It can be a totally valid option outside LI.
