Yeah the crock man is amazing... That thing can do lots of different stuff including attack nearly any Target in the game with really good odds to succeed. I would try to get some swc spread outside of the link, however. I don't care much for concentrating that much. Though in composition, this is actually really similar to a Cutter list Ive used a lot in vanilla... But now its nearly the same but you (hypothetically) get to link 5 models together! Haha
My money is on a Croc Man with a 0.5 SWC tax and/or Echo Bravo. Even tho having infiltrating/AD could be too strong in an sectorial army that seems already well optimized as far as order management is concerned. And none of the dossiers shows d-charges, but that's hardly a smoking gun since Croc Men and Orcs dossier are both missing the Hacking device. Then again, we could just get the Locust with AVA 1, he is not out of place in VIRD after all, even its open-mask design is reminiscent of the Zulu. So... could the lack of d-charges be one of the weaknesses of VIRD? I was also thinking about a possibile lack of specialist, but this does not seem to be the case as we already know there will probably be: Fusilier Hacker Fusilier FO Fusilier Paramedic Bipandra Kamau Hacker (maybe, they are a thing now, but could get axed) Kamau Paramedic (see above) Kamau FO (see above) Tech-Bee Crab-bot Orc Hacker Croc Man Hacker Croc Man FO (probably?) Machinist Trauma-Doc (probably, can't see why not) Pathfinder Mulebot EVO Am I missing something?
I don't think so. Additionally new units will certainly add some more. As for D-Charges - the question is open. They can show up in most surprising places. Would be interesting if for example Echo Bravos had them, even at the cost of specialist options.
I said specialists, not necessarily GOOD ones. In a mixed link I would hardly pay the specialist tax on the Orc hacker. BTW, is it known what kind of hacking device will the Croc Man carry? KHD or AHD?
Right now Crocs have an AHD but it’s not out of the question to get a VIRD-only profile with a KHD similar to Tunguska and Spektrs.
Wow, you're a slippery one. Given that you said to replace the Daiyokai with the LI link, they aren't doing the same job if they're defensive. If they move to the midfield, like the Daiyokai would, they're easy pickings for *any* CC capable model, which the Daiyokai probably is not. But the rest of the thread is (thankfully) back to Varuna instead of JSA, so let's move on. On that note, Kamau MSR in 5-man Fusi link... Ermahgerd. It's the best sniper in the game now. BS16 effective with Mimetism, MSV2, and SSL2... There is no better reactive piece, and it's relatively cheap, all considered. And yes, I'd consider it a great active turn attack piece as well, even if VIRD doesn't get smoke. And D-Charges - maybe Zulu Cobra or Echo Bravo? Both seem like fairly well-strapped badasses, so maybe they'll finally bring PanO some love there.
It's a damn fine ARO piece indeed. I think at this point we can near guarantee that VIRD is not getting smoke. Although, I am really eyeing the Feuerbach ORC with some Fusil cheerleaders as my go-to defensive ARO. The MSR might be regulated to a Kamau Haris, or a 6th guy to link into the fusiliers team once the ORC goes down. As far as D-Charges go, I'm certain either the echo bravo or the Zulu Cobra will have them. wouldn't it be crazy if we got an engineer profile outside of our machinist?! Eh, I wouldn't hold my breath.
Given the experiences one of our local players with an MSV2 Brawler MSR in Druze, I will be running the Kamau in a 5-man for a while to see how nasty he can be. That said, I'm a rude man myself, so I will probably be running ORC FB in the same link as an alternate ARO/attack piece. We'll see how best to flesh out the sectorials once other profiles drop, but I have a feeling Cobras and Bravos are going to have some very solid attack pieces that can play from unexpected vectors, which should be a nice new feeling for PanO.
I’m wondering what the Zulu Cobra does that separates it from Hexas and Croc Men. The sectorial already has an infiltrating TO camo model, and being a straight Hexa clone (TO Camo, no other skills of note) isn’t really this sectorial’s style. Could we be looking at a possible regular camo model? With a niche as a cheap gunfighter? I’m also wary of looking too much at the Hecklers. It’s a very similar skill set, especially once the Jammer comparisons start. Clearly the Hecklers are more toolboxy being Nomads models, and the ZC is going to be the superior shooter.
I would probably say he will be somewhere between and heckler and a Ryuken-9. the infiltrator one that is. I think he'll have camo or ODD and operate as a board control piece with FD1 or FD 2. he'll probably utilize mines, the jammer, maybe even a hacking device or a close assault weapon to keep your DZ safe from infiltrators trying to crawl too far up. decent AD defense as well.
Really? Did I miss something? I know I heard normal camo on Helots, but zilch on the ZCs. Thanks anyway IJW
Jeez really? I thought that was just on the helots? Will PanO finally be able to play the empty courtesy list shell game?
I don't think so... Pano troops with camo: CO or TO will be too expensive. Are we talking about Pano or Not? They aren`t cheaps toys in Pano ;)
It all depends man, Regular camo could really keep costs down, especially the helots, as they might play the role of a cheapish camo unit. I think it might be entirely possible to hand an empty courtesy list over in a limited insertion setting.
