The new book appears to detail a new CA offensive on Paradiso. Hopefully this will include some new goodies for us.
If it follows the recent pattern from Tunguska, Vedic and TAK, we'll see a whole slew of special new rules and equipment that only new units will get. Luckily, the new units in this case will be Shasvastii! To be clear, I'm not a huge fan of CB's trend of giving the newest sectorial (and only the latest sectorial) the newest, shiniest, most optimized toys, but if it must happen then at least we're getting a turn.
I feel like there's a small amount of power creep, but not too much. You are right that the newer sectorials have more interesting rules and are "shinier." It hasn't reached full-on gw levels of "only the last few updated armies are competitive." obvs.
historically, every time a new book comes out with new rules (like Paradiso or HSN2), CB has gone and updated every old sectorial with new units and/or profiles. They don't necessarily get new models, but they might get something like Odelisks getting Haris in Paradiso, or Muyibs getting a HRL option. This helped against the power creep, and the expectation from the community is that they will keep this up with the "Big November Update for Everyone" that Bostria was going on about.
the big november update for evetyone that has been, in more than one place, been debunked as a small pan-o tune and lots of community whishing? that update?
I was going to say the same thing. There has been MINOR power creep, but it is mostly that new sectorials have much more interesting fireteam building options. When you look at Hassassins and Qapu Khalqi (the grandfather of mixed fireteams) now, they are kinda meh.
I agree with the bigger picture, but disagree about HB and QK. Both still look pretty good. I'm more worried about new equipment trickling back into older sectorials very slowly. I'd really like them to get more presence.
The more people talk about the november update, the more worried I get about it. Specially because this IS the november update. This book will most likely hit stores in november and so whatever comes in said update is coming inside this book too. Does that mean new profiles? Updates to old units? I have no fricking idea. And by this point, I don't think I even want to start speculating.
Going on past history (campaign paradiso), minor updates here and there to a smattering of old units, one or two new units per faction, and a few sectorials getting more fleshed out.
Much as I'd like you to be correct, Bostria has said numerous times that this isn't the year of the Shasvastii. I expect it'll be Gencon next year before we have new Shasvastii, though I'd love to be wrong.
I must have missed that with Uprising... I would expect this book to be fluff behind current ITS season, fluff for this year's Sectorials (Tunguska, OSS, TAK, Varuna) and include maybe the new rules that came out in those sectorials, plus the changes affecting Shock Army (and maybe MRRF, for that matter).
Unconfirmed- but saw talk that a description of the book said MO and Morats were getting updates in the books alongside the Acon changes.
Oh I am not saying they are bad at all, I am taking HB to a Dire States. I just meant they are less exciting as the mixed fireteam new Sectorials.
Unfortunately that conversation with @Bostria has already confirmed to be spanglished and he was just talking about some updates for Pan-O when Varuna drops. Everyone else ain't getting shit with that one unfortunately.
I have a big feeling this is just an updated, or continuation, of the Paradiso book. For those yungins that weren't playing at the time, what we saw last time in Paradiso was Background, New Force (Tohaa), Spec Op rules, new missions, campaign rules, new troops (1 or 2 for existing forces), and new Skills & Equipment. For this new one I’m expecting close to the same except Not having a whole new force. I’m willing to guess some of the new sectorals. If I remember right, I don't have my book with me, I got the Bao for YJ, and Caliban for my Shasvastii.
