I want to start TAK, and it seems I'll end up with quite a few Antipodes. While I'm fine with the ones that look like wolves, some of them have knives and stuff, and that seems odd to me.

Can you guys recommend Antipodes (from any box) which look like wolves and not furries?

    Why is this odd?
They are sentient beings and totally capable of using tools.

I'm actually curious about why Colonel Voronin's antipode is so small and feral.

    ^ this

Every antipode model I can thinking of has a knife or weapon of some kind. Except for Voronin's

I too, would love some lore on the Colonel. I am on the fence about buying him, since I run pretty much Vanilla Ariadna.

I think my issue is that he has an antipode on his base, seems like a fat base to try and do stuff with.

From a pure modeling standpoint the wolf from the Voronin model is the only one I can think of that is not behaving in a humanoid manner.
The older sculpts of the antipodes have more wolfy poses and you could find them on ebay but IMO they look God-awful.

Depending on your meta you could get away with using Fenrisian wolves from 40k. They are only slightly larger than Voronin's dog although the detail in the sculpt is just not up to infinity standards.
(At least it wasn't when I still played 40k...)

I'd stick to Infinity, I don't like Space Wolves (let's have space marines, but this time viking werewolves with stupid hair).

Total immunity werewolves (let's just think of them as werewolves instead of furries) have same base as antipodes, but a bit bigger (S5-S6). So a box of Dog warriors are nice for antipodes, while the two dogface is a good proxy for Irmadinhos (because as far as I tell, those only have a single new blister for their AVA4).
For Streloks we only have the girl with her wolf, and nothing for Frontovniks (the medium Kazaks), right?

The dogwarrior human form models are great irmandinho proxies/conversions. Just got to give them some more pouches and gear.

(Not at home so I had to dig up some old pics)

But the Werewolf forms are terrible antipode proxies.

That is right on the streloks and frontiviks. We just got the early release smg strelok and antipode. The upcoming Beyond Coldfront ( hopefully in november ) will have a T2 Frontovik engineer and a T2 Marksman rifle Strelok.

Right now tankhunter are good conversions/stand in's for frontoviks.

My theory is it was raised separately from other antipodes and not growing up in a trinary caused it to develop looking and behaving more like the original animals before they were weaponized by the Tohaa

This is in contrast to assault packs who grow as a trinary in a controlled environment, and K9's who replace 2 members with a fully sapient being

Linked antipodes have a level of semi-sapience, similar to earth primates that allows them rudimentary tool use

I don't really like converting metal minis. They are harder to do, and it feels like messing up the original. And I'm also bad at converting metal.

They are similar, just bigger...I'll see how it looks assembled. I also have a Tohaa big pokemon nearly finished (as Tohaa) as a plan B :P

Cool! I'm getting aboard the s.t.a.l.k.e.r. bandwagon!

Oh no. They are really not as similar as you think. And you'll see once you got them assembled and beside one another. The antipodes still look very wild. Though I will agree that they are on the big end of S5

When you have a Blackjack that seems like less of an issue...

Uh, guys? Dogwarriors are S6. Not S5. They are supposed to be bigger than an Azrail!

My annoyance about Colonel Voronin was that at the time he was released, his HVT profile didn't have the puppy. But the blister only had one Voronin body in it, so you got to make either the HVT or the man walking his dog.

You are correct that the big 55mm base is annoying to maneuver. You get used to it with bikes, though.

I was talking about the antipode. They are really tall and much like the blackjack and ratnik are on the very edge of S5

You can magnetize Voronin on 25mm base to go onto 55mm with Grisha........;)

Uses different arms, though. Plus, I didn't think of magnetizing the base when I bought mine.

I think I'm going to chase down the Infinity RPG minis, get Voronin the HVT that way, along with more civvies/HVTs. Can never have enough civvies!

I'll just note that the RPG Voronin is packing an Assault Pistol. I'm tempted to get the regular release as well and arm swap so I get HVT with baton and cigar, and 55mm version with doggo and pistol.
