Can somebody tell my why Ariadna don't have bots for their Dozers and 112? Now! I know they are the Lo tech faction but Ariadna is no longer in a vacuum, I'm quite sure some faction would sell them some or they would steal the tech. That Ariadna is the Lo tech faction I can understand to a point but not for everything they do.
Buying the bots is one thing. Keeping them running is a completely different one. Care to read about all the technological wonders of the day shah Reza Pahlavi bought with oil money for his country in 1970s? Entire factories ready to run... that weren't ran, because there were no properly trained peole to operate them, no supply chain to keep them stocked and no infrastructure to support them...
My money is on "insufficient comms relays to support a G:Servant bot" Possibly multiplied by "requires operator to have a quantum Comlog" (As a Cube is not required)
There are O-12 imposed treaties the forbid the sale of technology above a certain level to the Ariadna Federation.
Ok! that I didn't know but there is a black market, would the O-12 stop them, and why is the O-12 doing this to Ariadna?
1. Sure and then O-12 confiscates it and hits you in the head with an ashtray, takes your girlfriend and burns down your house. 2. I think there was something about keeping Ariadna from becoming dependent on/part of another power's Sphere of Influence.
Ok! that will make Ariadna doctors and engineers a little less effective, would be nice if Ariadna could come up with their own.
Instead of a doctor and 2 bots, take 2 or 3 doctors! That's the Ariadna way, and you get more orders from it. Or 5 doctors if you're running TAK.

I'm pretty sure those were implemented at the behest of the Ariadnan government to protect their industry/economy. They certainly wouldn't follow those rules with their deniable paramilitary units like Infinity represents if they could help it. I can't see Yu Jing being averse to trading some yaozaos for Teseum.
I agree, STAVKA deniable assets could in theory use whatever equipment they could afford, which should be just about anything. Granted, same could be said about all factions.
Indeed. Servant Remotes depend on a level of tech infrastructure that Ariadna simply doesn't have, and is actively resisting if you look at the recent Merovingian background.
As a man with a pano avatar image I can see why you may be confused over humble the Ariadna lifestyle. Let us be your guide comrade. The answer is simple. Our soil is getting invaded, and what do the invaders use? Bots. Bots will betray you when they are hacked by invaders, they will run out of power when you're stranded in Ariadna wilderness. This is what happened to the invaders, and it will happen to you! Why do you need fancy sniffer bot when you have your noble antipodes at your side? Why do you need shiny new weapons and scopes when grandpapa's ojotnik has worked, and it will work. But seriously the muls, blackjacks, and recent ratnik provide a pretty good answer to "why no bots," Ariadnan technology, while advanced by today's standard, definitely seems to have a clunkiness to it. I'm guessing we don't have the miniaturization part of the bots widely available. Everything is pretty rough and tumble in the Ariadnan military, and I'd guess that getting replacement parts for the fancier tech like the HI or the muls must be a headache of paperwork. As for breaking O-12 laws for smuggling... isn't that a thing for chain rifles, t2 ammo, breaker rounds, viral weapons, land mines, and a bunch of other weapons that the book says are warcrimes? -Small edit- I busted out the Ariadna source book for the infinity rpg, "About the size of a small car, these crude remotes are driven with a dedicated control device, but can do basic wayfinding on their own." I don't think Ariadna are making anything even close to bots, as Mul's have just enough programming to go from point A to B without smashing into a wall. I don't think our manufacturing is producing anything that can do surgery in the field anytime soon.
The G:Servant bots are a telepresence rig, much like a modern Predator or Reaper drone. With a dedicated control rig, it's pretty simple to control them, but the rest of the Sphere has that telepresence rig miniaturized down to something the operator wears (or even is implanted). A Predator drone's control rig fills the back of a Hummvee, and a Predator drone is the size of a Cessna. Helperbots aren't doing the surgery themselves, they're a 'servant' of the actual medic. If the medic goes down, the helperbot does, too, so it's the medic just using the helperbot as remote eyes and diagnostic systems. And then you need the dedicated comms support to be able to send the control signals to the helperbot and the images and waldo feedback back to the operator. That's at least a 5G cellphone link, just for the stereo video. Plus whatever encryption, plus the force feedback in the arms. How does the rest of the Sphere use helperbots on Ariadna? They launch a comms relay drone.
Solution is obvious. Trained Antipode Medical Assault Pack. Doc with controller and three furry orderlies. "Congratulations. You're being rescued. Please do not resist". Operating without backup, comm capacity or supplies in Ariadna wilderness? That's what we do! And now I really want to see it as a bootleg :P
At PH15 Antipodes can Casevac pretty much anything other than a transmuted Dogface back to your Doctor.
I think it would be kind of cool to see g:sync low tech support bot. Instead of doing what regular remotes do, they exist to modify or add an ability. There is a fluff piece I recall about Mavericks having scout UAVs. So maybe you get a bot that looks like the aero cam and grants 360 visor or something. The weakness would be no weapons and destroyable. Perhaps like S8 and mimetism for them to be harder to hide when moving and minor innate defenses. Aero 360 bot Aero Total Reaction Aero Explode Bot Probably would be hard to balance to get it right, but it would be a neat way to see more of the almost future tech.
