You're free to play ISS if you covet them so much. If you're willing to accept ISS weak points: lack of affordable decent AROers, lack of defensive mod stacking, hyperbloated profiles, … Sure, you will tell me they have Su Jian, I tell you OS have Post Humans. You should consider if you prefer Zhanyings and Bao troops when you have Devas in that same range of cost. Or maybe you prefer the bloated Pheasant instead of the god damn Shukra. Maybe you prefer a single ninja and Kanrens as your only skirmisher options. Needless to say the so praised mixed links ISS used to enjoy are now common in many armies. And there 's no point trying to compare a Celestial Guard link with a Dakini's fireteam. Even Yadu play similar role as Wu Ming but lack HI weaknesses. As you can see ISS, like all YuJIng armies, is designed with a focus on attack, YuJIng players rarely rely on ARO, as their decent AROers are quite expensive, and the affordable ones suppose little more than a nuisance to the opponent. But YuJing lacks in defensive mods (camo, mimetism, TO are scarce) and only their elite units have good BS stats. That's why they need smoke. Yet those smoke sources are scarce (monks and KS controller CG ). A peek at Aleph's rooster reveals that despite abundance of defensive mods there're several smoke sources too and very high stats, decent ARO units , prices according stats or even cheaper to what I'm used to in YJ. And you whine because your haris of terminators isn't allowed to enjoy smoke… really...
I think you mistook my posting as attack on ISS (Yu Jing as vanilla not referenced at all). I was merely disproving the claims that OS having Smoke would somehow be "OP" and would hurt the game. Also, mind your language. See, I know what you mean by "OS doesn't need Smoke", and yes, you are technically right. But that's equally true for pretty much all sectorials in this game. Does CHA need Smoke? No, they can always just bring extra Grey+Volunteer links to bully their way. Does Tohaa need Smoke? What sectorial needs it? The point is not in needing Smoke. The point is in having good synergies and different playstyles. They could've easily put Smoke LGL on one loadout of Rudra and basically said, sure, here's Smoke but you pay 40 points for it. That way it's never an autoinclude, but it is an option. Now, Marut is gonna be seen almost never in competitive OS lists. Even Asuras got a bunch of upgrades just to make them a "maybe" option.
I didn't take it as an attack to ISS but compared it with OS as way to prove that OS with smoke would be a superior army to ISS by far. Really, as I was doing it I realized how much better were OS units ranging within the same points costs as ISS units and their fireteams. Smoke and Kuangshi are the only saving points when comparing both armies. Reason enough not to give smoke to OS.
Do you even play this game? What is even close to Su-Jian in point efficiency? What advantage does Asura Spitfire carry over Hsien HMG? And yeah, Dakini linkteams are pretty nice... Until you run into AHD or template or two. OS does Hacking better than ISS, and it can make a dedicated infiltration list (a nice, but middling strength one). That's about it. In general, while ISS and OS have different strengths and weaknesses, I'd rate them on par for power-level. However, I claim that unless the Smoke comes on a particularly OP unit, it would actually change little in OS overall power level, while help Asura Spitfire and Marut see table in OS.
OSS support structure - healing, repairing, CoC, etc - is far superior to that of the ISS. Our units are far more durable (while on topic, NWI and +1 ARM are some of the advantages Asura has over Hsien). Yadu are a top of the line combat unit, even before mixing in Deva, Asura or Rudra. @Plex, get a Daleth instead of one of the Devas. It's faster, is another specialist, has its own Sniffer, and Sat-Lock can be handy (especially if you're using EVO as well).

Why no one uses LGL in Dakini link? Shock spec.fire will bring hell to everyone. With such great amount FO units in Aleph you can spame grenades on 11+3+3+3= 20!
OSS is an SWC hog, so that 1 SWC can be forbidding ;) Personally I'm used to use light fireteams mostly for defence, but yes, linked Dakini LGL should be a terror when used well. I'll arrange for some test runs...
That's a fair point. It's not a profile I use often because of the SWC, but an Apsara would raise that to a 22.... Very interesting.
Here's one with a full Yadu link. Kind of leary of hackers in a link because its easier for KHD to pick it apart, and most of the KHD devices do enough damage that 2 wounds don't help to much. Shakti is cool though. Really like the CSU and ABH duos, at least one of them will go into most lists I make. Also, Mk.1 Doc doesn't have a lot to heal, but Engineer can be a backup for the Samekh. This also means we now have D-Charges. I'd love to include a Netrod for our Posthumans, but that would require further tweaks if we're to keep it to one combat group.
