Exactly. If you make your deadlines, a yawn, at best. However, slip on what people will many times have taken as an ironclad promise? Torches and pitchforks.
I should have communicated a bit better perhaps. Let me elaborate a bit more: I don't think it's "easily dismissable". I do think that the cost of designing said boxes will be negligible in the grand scheme of things, as the lion's share of the costs will likely be on the production end since they already will have most of the promotional material available to them. But it's also important to remember that a chunk of the flak they received wasn't just for "an announcement of new sectorials and not the actual release of new sectorials" but because it had been heavily hyped up as the Ns being the release of something, not the announcement of a something to be released. I'd also argue that the "Ns" themselves could have been explained or differentiated a bit better. Which is a play off of the old saying "Those that can't do, teach". It's a way to belittle criticisms or to pretend that a layperson might have no insights worth considering. I'm aware of this. That's why I went out of my way to suggest that they don't need to give exacting details but would be better served by communicating things in a more informative manner. The Ns that they added on the roadmap could have been replaced with "Tentative Sectorial Release Window", "Tentative Book Release Window", "Tentative Event Window". Emphasize the nature of them as "tentative" rather than "definitive" and it really can go a long way towards mollifying people.
Then maybe don't set yourself deadlines if you're not confident of meeting them? Nobody is forcing them to put out deadlines or say specific months when they're working on something.
Maybe don't take Blizzard's development model for delaying literally everything from products to patches. I'm generally okay with delays but I want information or at least some consistency in timelyness. Many companies fail to do either and are rightly reprimanded by their customers.
This isn't about the detail of their road map. This is about their communication after we reach each point on the map. CB seem to hurt themselves every time because they communicate information to channels they KNOW leak (the WarCors, but especially their supply chain) without being ready with their official communication. If they just had their official communication ready BEFORE telling the WarCors and their Distributors/Retailers so that they can respond immediately with the details and explanations then we wouldn't be having this conversation... Again
I think the rate at which warcors leak info vs retailers or even fuck ups with gtm is minimal. However you are 100% accurate about CB never having a response prepared for discontent. Its like they assume everything will be greeted with standing ovations.
It's not even about discontent. Officially speaking there has been NO ANNOUNCEMENT of Acon going OOP. That's just not ok.
Pretty sure they just don't give a damn about the Forums. Considering they already had to close them down for toxicity once, who can blame them? There is always some idiot blowing things out of proportion. You and I know there are great ideas around here somewhere, we've seen them. But they're buried under a lot of trash, so I can see why they don't bother sifting through the average Forum thread. Infinity Facebook and Reddit is a full blown left wing censorship and propaganda machine where every idea is good as long as it's pink and fluffy, and gets nuked if it's not. Uncomfortable truths and actual criticism are not wanted there. It's the fanboy circlejerk every bad marketing department dreams about. Nothing wrong with living a sheltered life away from criticism. If that's what people want, sure, let them have that. This joint is not like that. We find new questions to ask and we never let them go. Give us a finger and we take the whole arm. Heck if I know how to handle community interaction around here. I wish they'd simply set up some rules that provide answers automatically. Like a new FAQ Update every quarter or dedicated Q&A sessions for rule shit and ITS with a date for a fix if necessary. Hand out bans or timeouts on the forums for transgressions. More transparent Army updates would also be great. I have no issue waiting if there is a deadline on it. This shit however is clear cut. The announcement has a date, there is a deadline and CB simply sticks to their guns instead of caving in. There is no reason to do this faster just because a part of the internet found out early. What's coming will not be rolled back and is ultimately good for us, if people want to admit it or not.
I mean, they have an internal timeline set alongside with a pretty rigid release schedule of blog posts/products/updates. I don't expect them to change all that because some shitter posted some leaks on the internet. I work in marketing. Timelines are taken very seriously.
Sweet baby Jesus, THIS! It's not *that* hard to have an Official Word ready, and I say that as a guy who had to write the damn things (collateral duties: Public Affairs assistant and ship's photographer, plus a few others.). Wasn't for toxicity. Was because the forums were 'too expensive to maintain', which very quickly turned into 'too expensive to not have'.
its the server cost I believe, and the syste, they were using wasnt very optimised as far as I was aware
I’ve read comments before of a MO 300 box but I have not been able to find any mention of it on the website. Do we know if it is actually going to exist? what is in it? Or when it will, putatively, arrive?
Its October release ifnIm not mistaken. Check MO tactica thread for exact content (its new Joan, Hospitaller box, Crusader MR+LFT, Black Friar and OS box).
This was, what, 5 years ago? Pretty sure it was actually before Op: Icestorm dropped and really exploded CB's popularity from 'a cool little minis game' to 'a reasonable competitor to Privateer Press'. It may not have been the cost of the forums, it may have been the cost of a dedicated IT person at the time. Announced on Beasts of War September 18. Looks like Hospitalier box, Joan, Order Sergeant SWC box, Black Friar, and Crusader Brethren. Announced as an October release, so should be in stores about this time next month.
Why BoW and not CB’s own site? I really do not understand their website’s structure and function sometimes. It seems totally random.
I have been looking at this thread and others in the forums. I’m sorry but I would rather wait for something a bit more reliable. On the other hand if the set does in fact exist and the contents are what you specify my main comment is, Another damn JoA?? I have three different ones only one assembled and even she has only been played once as a holo-echo for a Knight of the Holy Sepulchre. Wasn’t there anything else they could fill the empty space with?
Then check official Infiniry Facebook page for a official picture of this force. It is official and is happening. Dammit!
If Beasts of War is insufficiently reliable (considering that CB pays to advertise there), well, perhaps the official Infinity the Game FB page? I mean, it's not like there's a folder labeled 'Infinity October 2018 New Releases' or anything... 300pt army boxes are always re-packaging. So, repack of Joan w/ tactical molester umbra, Hospitalier box, Order Sergeant SWC box, Black Friar multirifle, and Crusader Brother multi+LFT.
