I think not making him a specialist works nice. But yeah, Mk.V-12 needs better fighting and some support options.

I'll probably only use Mk4 and Mk5, because I'm not a fan of the Mk1-3 models and I don't use models I don't like aesthetically. I may end up proxying though (fittingly).

I was thinking MKIII would need something like Nanoscreen or something like that to be her own thing.

Moreover when being MI now gives forward deployment, which is good on a dual SMG specialist who already had the first level, but not that good on a somewhat longer range Mk.12

Depends, often the sniper nests are just outside DZ. I think the problem of the MK5 is that Marksmanship LX is kinda meh.

I think it's as easy as making her cost 1.5 SWC instead of 2. Then you have a fast spitfire at a cheaper cost, which may be included over the Mk4 HMG

Posthuman's are the unit that got me into Aleph. I love their concept, and would play them at twice the price. They also happen to be extremly good, and versatile. I usually start my Aleph lists by deciding which heavy hitters I want to include. Then I go to the posthumans to fill out roles I need. Any leftover points go to orders, and redundancies.

Thematically I think they fit the O.S.S very well. I tend to think of them as line troops. Just like most of my PanO lists will contain some Fusiliers, most of my Aleph lists have some Posthumans. They just do a lot more work than the Fusiliers.

To be picky, sss is sp, oss and vanilla, and oss stands for operations subsection of the s.s.s. ( as you can see in army builder).

Not really. OSS implies that it is the "Operations Sub Section", dividing the word subsection into two words. *Technically* it is the OS of the SSS, or OSotSSS, which is just silly amounts of S. This isn't the Harry Potter universe - we don't need to speak in parseltongue. Just call them Vedic.

The hacker is definitely my first choice. In some lists the sniper edges out.

Anyway, on the actual topic of the thread, I've found when building for OSS that the glorious links actually leave me wondering whether I want to bring Posthumans. I often do, but once you've got a Dakini core and a haris of some kind, you'll often not have many points/space left and there are plenty of other really appealing specialists in ALEPH. Sophotects, Danavas, the new Deva profiles, etc. More than ever I'm finding myself weighing the Posthumans against other options.

That said, IMO Posthumans are really important for ALEPH. We need that order efficiency. Leaving them out of OSS would make it far less viable for competitive play.

I do call them Vedic. I was just noting the official names and that the sss isnt just vanilla, it also includes both sectorials.

Also, to be more on topic, I think posthumans fill an important role in aleph, namely allowing specialist or firepower options spread around the board to compensate for the inherently bad order pool/efficiency.

This is one of the biggest draws of the Posthumans: you can proxy almost any reasonably techy looking model for them ;-)

Exactly. The problem is that since HSN3 they're doing this a tad too efficiently ;)

Before the update, Posthumans were nice, useful, but a bit iffy to use and often overlooked in favor of other options. After update G:Jumper lost most of its drawbacks, and got cheaper at the same time, and Mk.4/5 Proxies were introduced, allowing for a greater variety of options.

I play Vedic (hell, I was playing Vedic before it was cool, as a safe-imposed restriction in vanilla), I find Posthumans awesome, but I don't want them to push other options from the game, and I often warn new players that they're a crutch, and it's better to learn to play without them. I also don't think that making them more expensive would make OSS weak (this would probably require a direct orbital strike). Mk.3 and Mk.5-12 are a second issue, I'd like to see it solved as well.

I strictly disagree. If you nerf Posthumans, you basically nerf anything that isn't the most efficient option in OS.

Also, please, elaborate on which profile do you think would be played that is not played now?

I've played Aleph without posthumans loads of times and they do just fine and in fact smash face. Machaon, Nagas, Sophotect, Myrmidons, Deva Spitfire... All excellent choices. If Posthumans weren't in Aleph then Aleph would still be fine. And they're fine with them!

Especially if he got smoke AND a MSV2

Mi compadre. I've been doing this too, since ALEPH first dropped. I don't think there's a single ASS unit that appeals to me aesthetically - aside from, oddly enough, the most useless one.

I figured I'd post this here instead of starting a new threat. First, completely on topic, I'm not going to play O.S.S. yet, until I get a bunch of the new stuff up and running, so I won't answer the poll, but I'd guess I'll use Posthumans 90+% of the time, if only because two specialists for 20 points seems, ya know, strong.

Onto my posthumans related question: does anyone else wonder about the fact that the Yadus heavy weapons (HRL, HMG), are the same as the Mk. 4's heavy weapons, and that they're the only two sources of HRL? I can only wonder if this was a decision made related to proxying, making the two units basically exchangeable.

I doubt it, it's more of a case of making Yadus strong in a mid-to-long 16"-32" range bands, without giving them Missile Launcher. Lack of traditional anti-tank weapons seems to be one of the weaknesses built into OSS, with more unique tools, like E/M, hackers and K1 Rudra stepping in instead. Proxy rules are likely unrelated.

I actually like the Greeks, I play Steel Phalanx as well. But I never wanted to mix them. I'm not a fan of vanilla factions in general ;)

I just have a questionabout posthumans

If I have 2 combat groups and want to swap posthumans(asuming i have space in the combat groups), do I have to spend one or three command Token?

Just wondering because during deployment they count as one trooper.
