So because Tinbots have "always been depicted as separate minis"...you don't think there's any need for a mini to depict them? Nobody ASKED for Tinbots. They just started shoveling them at us. And spoiler... SKU bloat is a garbage excuse. It's their own damn fault and they keep adding to it. The Heckler could have been a boxed set of all the remaining profiles(after the starter set, there were 3 profiles one with the Fast Panda), the Cobra Zulu could have been a double or triple blister, etc etc. While we can live without a PanO tinbot mini, they've shoved one down everyone else's throat at this juncture. I would be shocked if they don't pull a Mobile Brigada and shovel it onto a profile in the set like they did with the addition of a BSG Lt for their poorly planned out 300 pt box.
I can't say tinbots have ever gotten me that worked up. I'm not crazy about them, and I don't think there was ever a need to depict them as a miniature, but I know that cute bots are a fun project and have appeal among some of the playerbase. I'm just hoping we don't have an ORC displaced by a Tinbot. PanO doesn't have that much need for a Tinbot mini, since we generally don't have a lot of Tinbots shared around. Also, calm down.
the box will probably come with a tinbot. lets be real. And that's okay, its not a huge deal. maybe they'll even get a second or alternate tinbot profile to go along with it
Which makes it more likely that it will be in the ORC box. Why do people type this nonsense? You're not in the room with me, you don't know if I'm legitimately worked up or getting flustered. For all you know, I'm just quick at typing and don't really feel like I need to filter my statements.
@kanluwen you do understand that the more people who block you the less conversation you actually get to have? And the more you fail to filter out the worst of your douchebag moments the more of us block you (again)? So, like, maybe (for your own benefit even if you don't give a shit about the environment you are participating in) think about the impact your choices have on the other people who also use this forum and who maybe don't want to have to deal with overwhelming and unwarranted bullshit. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Back onto the actual topic at hand. I promised myself that I wasn't going to get too excited about Varuna... But ONE LOOK at that sniper shot and I can't help it. There is already so much cool stuff, and with so much more that we don't know about! Guys, I need some help here. Somebody remind me what PanOceania don't get...
I honestly fail to see what about kanluwen's post is so drastic it warranted a calm down comment. I disagree with SKU bloat being a garbage excuse, wanting to keep it manageable from logistics PoV it's perfectly understandable. It's hard to argue, though, that CB goes about it in an uneven and seriously inefficient way. First of all they might've switch to 6-man boxes, allowing for all options in a single box, with a minimal need for blisters for units like Suryats (HMG), Rodoks (ML), Kamau (HMG in Beyond Icestorm), Riot Grrls (Spitfire)... the list is longer. and it'd allow for greater variety of sculpts, as well as including the damn Tinbots without taking options away. Additionally they might've started packaging TAG pilots with the actual TAGs. Also the more I'm looking at Acon and Varuna starter the more I fail to see logic behind the unit/weapon selection. Did someone at CB thought "players demand we show off PanO firepower, so lets cram as many SWC weapons as possible into a single starter box"?
I'm perfectly calm and I've been reasonably polite for the most part. I will NOT tolerate this nonsense of people telling me to "calm down" and I WILL call it out. If I was emotional? You'd know it. I'd be making personal attacks left and right. And the fact that rather than sending me a private message you chose to post this in public shows exactly the environment that this forum tends to engender from some individuals.
Considering the latest boxes CB seems to have been moving away from Tinbots (see Hollowmen) What kind of Profiles we'll need for Orcs? Feuerbach - done, it's in the Starter HMG - figures Hacker - CB likes their Hackers Up to 2 out of Combi, MR, BSG and Universal Proxy Orc Character Gal - most likely own Blister So disregarding the last one that is 5 Orcs, one covered by the Starter. This seems like a good guess what we can expect.
I feel like it's pretty likely that there'll be a Hacker, but the "new profile" will mean that there's an alternative Hacking Device (probably Varuna exclusive or at least SWC penalised into uselessness in Vanilla because fuck PanO). But the other "new profile" doesn't feel like its likely to just be a Combi or Boarding Shotgun sculpt (quite apart from the fact that the Hacker will probably still have a Combi), which makes me feel like it'll be another weapon loadout. With Feuerbach appearing at the top end, that might mean something like a SMG (but that would be nice) or a Missile Launcher (which seems more likely). Thanks. I was starting to actually have hope for a second there. Can't do that.
I don't know man, vanilla HI boxes regularly get tinbots. But just because we get a tinbot doesn't mean that a fourth ORC model is being somehow taken from us. we'd probably just get three sculpts (see dakini box coming out soon)
To be fair, there's three Hollow Men profiles that have Tinbots compared to the one that many units have. There's a few with two profiles, but most are sitting on just the one. One of those three Hollow Men profiles(Hacker) isn't present in the Hollow Men SWC box. Present in the box are: Boarding Shotgun, Combi Rifle, Missile Launcher, and a Spitfire. That leaves the Combi Rifle+Tinbot, the Haris profile(CR+Tinbot), and Hacker just needing a Tinbot to work. I'm expecting the Hacker to get a blister but see above concerning the silliness about complaints originating from CB itself regarding SKU bloat when the box could have been expanded to 5 models+a Tinbot and made it so they don't need to release a blister later. Nobody is forcing them to release things the way they are. This is all predicated upon the idea that we're not still going to be seeing the purported "Varuna exclusive" loadouts or that we won't see them sneaking other profiles in that mess up the concepts. I'm fully expecting something like the Hollow Men where a Specialist Operative profile is added with a one-off loadout, a Hacker is added with a piece of kit that nobody else in the unit has to frustrate proxying, etc.
I think the SKU conundrum is a little hard to solve. Doing away with blisters might cut out on bloat, but there is probably evidence that blisters generally lead to impulse purchases and relatively even stream of profit. There are also situations where you wont buy a 5 man box if all you want is one model... i however am the degenerate exception as i bought two acon starters literally because i like the montesa(which i use to proxy other knights)
The ORC character might very well be included in the ORC box. It would follow the trend of packing linkable options together (Keisotsu + Kempetai, Securitates + Grenzer.) I'm trying to figure out if I want more content that's spread out over a long release timeline, or fewer (but critical, relevant) units that get released quickly. We're seeing the Helot sooner than I thought we would... Sounds like within a couple months of the starter box release. Any bets on which profile it will be?
I'm tempted to say the basic profile, But unfortunately the dossier only showed SWC weapons. What a crazy turn of events if they don't get one. so, Red Fury?
The least useful profile, whichever one that ends up being. If they have infiltration it will be the MSR for sure. If they are BS10-11 the Red Fury.
There are only 4 weapon profiles.... so one of each? Interesting, the dont have a weake/cheap/short range profile..... not even one (ninjaed) @MrNailbrain , i have to take you to a pub man, have to pick up that spirit
If they do that, it would be a good ol' groin kick. You want them to actually release the stuff. We shouldn't have to pick and choose, especially given that they've been bragging about how far in advance they plan things. Boxed set.
