If you were to use Ikari to do Holo 1 or Holo 1&2. What would you disguise them as and why? I'm thinking of as 3 Brawlers to look like the Lt.
I honestly have no clue to how successful it would be but your idea is worth a try in a game or two just to see how it works out.
Between the Lu Duan threatening to be an EVO Remote (which most people associate with incoming Yuan Yuan, good for spooking them) and a Bashi pretending to be Le Muet, I find there are some cute Holo tricks in Ikari. Ii's a tough call, though. People who don't know your faction well will just blunder their way through a supposed Le Muet, making the ARO threat a moot point and clever opponents will count SWC or look at your Regular/Irregular orders and work out that Le Muet is a fake. Ikari doesn't have a lot of Irregular S2 models (and basically no marker-state irregulars, so any floating irregular order will give you away) so the Bashi has a hard time genuinely disguising itself, really.
I'm thinking of trying to use a 12pt bashi to disguised as 3 keisotsu combi to look like the Lt. but ya it seems a bit of a waste and someone could easily figure it out. It's a lot easier it QK to do it but then then don't really need to either.
it is hard to not give away that you are using a zero-G bashi, but even then you still get benefit from surprise shot and him not knowing which one is the real guy. I might go and holo as a triplet of another model I have. For ex. armand (i don't always use Forward deployment with a sniper riffle), a brawler sniper or tanko ML (anything that is not linked). Then your opponent know you only have AVA1 Armand but not sure which of the 4. Or only for him to find out the 4th one was also a bashi not using holo2 :) But more likely in my case I always parachute them, they don't make great chearleader.
During deployment, can only one holo being projected instead of two. For example: Putting the bashi holoed as 2 Brawlers, while the 3rd is actually a brawler.
Unfortunately you are required to place two holoechoes. Still, it's not a bad idea to protect Ikari's extremely obvious LTs.
Very obvious! I just had a fight against Tohaa and an Igao pretty much was able to walk up to the Brawler Lt. and kill him first turn. Yes I was dum by not having something else near him and bad placement but he knew right away who the Lt. was. It's almost worth it to have a 12pt Bashi to deploy normally as a Brawler or Druze just to throw the opponent off.
I tried out using a 12pt SMG Bashi impersonating as Brawler Lt. and it worked for what I intended to do. He definitely thought he was the Lt.! I unfortunately did something stupid and got my actual Lt. killed anyway!
Remember that the Bashi Bazouk, by being Irregular troops, require the order to be placed on the table (it states nowhere they have to be by the side of their owner, but are Open Information, so you are required to say to which model they belong anyway...) instead of the Reserve... This means it's a "first turn protection" bluff, sadly. You could place them as 3 Yuan Yuan to disguise up to 3 of them going for side entry, however (so for example place 1 YY and 1 bashi disguised as 3 YY during deployment).
True but he didn't pay attention to it. I just went with the risk that he would figure it out. But he didn't and said he though it was the lone brawler in the building.
you can impersonate a karakuri or something hard and good at close range to make the oponent avoid a side completely. In the same line, the gumings. You could also deploy as yuan yuans that are there to smoke in aro (just before the real yuan yuan jump from behind) As tankos ready to drop theyr expendable weapon and you can have a real for extra fun. Whatever make them lose 2 /3 orders is good
Wow, I didn’t know that - I mean that kills the whole impersonation idea almost completely. Bit of a shame really!
I think this weekend I'm going to try out the Bashi with the Combi Rifle, E/Mauler. Something about coming on the edge of a table and planting some E/M mines sounds awesome!
He's basically a budget Echo Bravo. Landing in Holo2 is great, though you have to get closer than you do with a Wild Parrot, but at 17 points and irregular the Bashi is pretty disposable.
Anyone have ideas of a good proxy for a BB with Combi + E/Mauler? I have the SMG but it's again a good opportunity to mix in other figures. Might be good with that Raoul Specter when they do him.
Get your hands on the female fusilier with combi-rifle, her arms fit great on the bashi (lower left). It's easily one of my favorite profiles.
@TheDiceAbide, is the guy at the top right a Bashi? I thought it was a YY. I'm thinking more and more how good the e/mauler is. I'm looking forward to trying them out.
