- No I don't think a unit that infiltrates on the other side of the board without Camo / TO Camo or any marker state for that matter to be very usefull. If you don't go first she is dead. If you go first you can claim the objective T1, but then you are probably getting dislodged by a template - Being the only CC competent unit available in OSS says more about the units we have available in OSS than about adromeda herself. - Shes doesn't bring any guns that are not already available on other units that are better for the same role. Dart SMG / Mk5 SMG / Naga both combi & BSG / Mk2 / Dasyus and so on.
Yes - but no official rules release on it yet :/ IJW has described it working how you have said... But still nothing official.
I want to talk about the Rudra Gunbots again. Starting Aleph with Coldfront im pretty excited about OS and besides the obvious strong pieces like Dakini Link the first thing I really want to try out and test are the Rudra, because I cannot see clearly where there strengths lay. 6-4 Move, ARM4, BTS6, 2 Wounds, 40 points is a fast HI as a base. On top we get Climbing plus for reaching some sweet spots. But is that enough to be a solid choice, either alone or in the Yadu (Haris) Link? Red Fury on a REM is a bad Spitfire, so thats no choice for me. The K1 Marksman Rifle sounds legit, especially in the Yadu Link the range band fits. But then we talk about a ~120P Haris Link. And compared to other, halfway similar options the Rudra does not look so good. Is the ARM4 2W enough?
I wouldn't bother linking it, you're assigning it an anchor and limiting its mobility for the sake of +1 B and +1 BS. It's got a native repeater so can load assisted fire for an effective +3 BS + shock, making the RF less attractive, but the K1 and the MR can both double dip on the ammo types for added fun. I want to hang on upside down from a walkway in sup fire (or would, if I could get someone up there to repair it when it eats a T2 crit).
I think Rudras are pretty ace. You can always lose a firefight and ARM 4 with S 2 goes a long way to protecting against that, as well as piece trading warbands, mines and such. I suggest you reconsider the Red Fury, the range and burst is great, damage is a little low but Shock really mitigates that. Plus mines! I'd definitely consider linking it with a Yadu Haris. Maybe Shakti and something with a shotgun?
I think the rudras greatest strength is that repeater with easy access to white noise. Given the recent releases i would expect to see more visors and white noise is a big deal.
Marker state isn't everything. You know the turn order on deployment, so going second allows you to deploy more defensively. Not to mention that she makes for a nice, cheap bait for your enemy to waste his orders on. She's a competent and sturdy CQB fighter and a specialist. Dart is a better fighter, but not a specialist. Nagas and Dasyus have access to good specialists, but with some weapon limitation. Mk.2 is abviously better, but then again it's better than most things in the game. She's far from perfect and S4 is a definite drawback. But she has her uses.
At this point there is absolutely zero reason for Shakti to have Sucker Punch. Only reason for her to ever have it would be if she would be able to link with a Danavas HD+ so they could use the same program for ARO hacking without one of them getting booted out of the link. Which leads to the theory that im having. That the fireteam compositions of OSS has been changed recently and this is just something thats left behind. Im basing this theory on the what was said in the beast of war coldfront video about troop profiles and the TAK Vet kazak special link that also with 3 Vets and 2 frontoviks that also makes no sense. That is at on point for not so long ago the Yadu troopers actually were wildcard troops as the Vet Kazaks are now in TAK or had a much wider selection of fireteams to link with. In the video Bostria talks of the flexibility of the Yadu profile and mentions how the number 2 skill of the Yadu will give much resilineance to the fireteams of the sectorial army. This is the video and Yadu is about 7:11, the way they get talked about remindes me more of how Vet KAzaks work in their sectorial. This might just be a crackpot theory but i think it has its merits. For one, the Deva link with a Yadu or two in it would unluck their true potential.
I completely agree, and I hope we see some alterations to the leftovers from that process in the coming months.
You don't deploy her over there if you don't go first--obvious things are obvious. And if the only thing you can imagine her doing is claiming an objective, then that's your loss. For example, as @Solar has observed elsewhere, she's well equipped for an alpha strike, especially given the Strategos Lt options you've got in this sectorial. What's your point? There are still classifieds that require it, and she's what you've got. Ergo, she's useful. Except that none of those units have Superior Infiltration. So they cannot, in fact, fill the same role as Andromeda. There's been a whole discussion about her on here that I don't want to rehash; suffice to say, you're focusing on the negatives because she isn't super-duper optimized and thereby missing the forest for the trees. *** There was also talk a few posts back about the usefulness of Sforza's Holo1 gimmick. My two cents is that it's plenty useful in Vedic. You can imitate (off the top of my head) a Shukrah Lt, Aspara, Danavas, Asura, or Proxy IV, all of which could prove useful. Don't write it off.
Sforza holo, disguise as something so your army adds up to aprox the point limit at at glance. Then watch the horrified face on the opponent as you bring in a surprise Garuda and smelts face. Sendt fra min VTR-L29 med Tapatalk
All the Asuras that have HD+ also have Redrum as an upgrade, which is the exact same program as Sucker Punch except B2. Shakti already has Redrum, because it is stock on the KHD. This is why we are confused - it seems completely redundant. I think one of the theories is that she may have been able to link with Danavas during playtesting, and they never changed the profile.
You are probably right. I missed the redrum. Long story short, Danavas is not in a link and we are all sad :(
