Almost like it's possible to use sarcasm without seriously misrepresenting your opponents positions. Read the lore again. She monitors the web (game-mechanics - none past being ANY hacker) for things that need killing. None of the programs available in HD+ but unavailable in KHD would be helpful (lore-wise) in any way, shape, or form match what she is described as performing as her duty. Or do you think that KHD is only allowed to kill and can do nothing else? Even game-mechanics disagree, I guess we'll have to remove Cybermask from those devices...
That's pretty much my reading of the background for Killer Hackers, yes, with Cybermask directly supporting that role. I read only having access to the SWORD family of programs as representing a Hacker that is purely focused on hunt-and-destroy to the exclusion of the other tasks that the Danavas perform. Would a KHD Danavas be useful? Sure, but given the background description they'd always have to be supported by another type of Hacker. You read it differently, so it's down to agreeing to disagree, as it's all just opinion.
Yeah, you are correct on these different readings. I read it as all tasks in the background descriptions being completely and utterly subsumed into KHD easily. It still leaves the problem of poor game design. But 3 years later, the AD Lts are still available so I guess thats nothing new.
I think it says more about the Interventors than the Danavas that Interventors have a slight BTS edge on them as hackers. Danavas, ALEPH's dedicated infowar unit (so they need to be good at that and otherwise not resource intensive) have a level of hacking capability that is superior to the top hacking capability of all of the major large landed powers most dedicated infowar troops. Better than all of PanO, Yu Jing, Haqqislam, minor nations etc. They are unbelievably shit hot, and have access to hacking equipment and programs that literally no major large planetary force, not even the Hexahedron's best, can deploy. The only thing that matches them are the Interventors (who are cherry picked from the best hacking savants) and alien combat bioforms and that's it. Danavas are very ALEPH OPsin aesthetic; inhumanly good at the task they are assigned to do, the best equipment you can get, but also light, mobile and indicative of a limited paramilitary scope under a restricted purview.
Yes, you've pointed that out before. And my reply is the same as before - in OperationS, CB may not want an NWI Hacker in whatever Fireteams the Danavas might be in, and might not want AHDs or HD+ in whatever Fireteams the Devas might be in. It's a false assumption that a Deva AHD or HD+ would fill the same role as a Danavas.
Must be my lack of imagination, then. Maybe we wait until OperationS drops and we see what are these superpowerful Fireteams that Devas would be totally OP as members of.
Or we see a KHD profile for the Danavas and an update/rework of the Devas and everyone is happy! A LHost can still dream right?
I've realised people are correct and I need to let Danavas go. It's been done, it's lame, what can you do. So I will. But! I will keep my crusade to get decent Deva Hacker! So, we have to differentiate with Danavas, so not too cheap. But we do want HD+, because it is Aleph. So maybe: Deva HD+ (upgrade: Exile), Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, Devabot (LFT, Repeater, 5pts) Total: 36 pts, 1 SWC Significantly more expensive, but worth it. Cannot be part of Fireteams. Available only in vanilla Aleph and OperationS
Now OSS has a playable Asura with her lieutenant lvl 2 profile. It's risky as it's obvious but the 2 lieutenant order can make it worth it. So, should CB bring this profile to Vanilla so vanilla player as a true alternative to Achilles or Marut ?
I agree, although I think they should allow at least Asura HD+ Lt2 to vanilla. Spitfire Lt2 can stay sectorial. But I don't think they'll do it any-which-way. I'm sad Devas didn't get more Lt options. Or NCO options. I'd be fine with giving NCO to Deva+Devabot or specialist profiles, to differentiate from Yadu HMG NCO.
Oh, we're not guessing - we're hoping (aka dreaming) of what might happen if Vanilla and SP get a look at in light of the changes made for Vedic. Will it result in anything? Probably not. Does it feel good to imagine the changes made to Andromeda, the Asura, and Devas making it to other aspects of Aleph, so they get more play? Definitely.
AHD + Lightning isn't a bad profile. Only +5pts over the Danavas AHD to have better combat stats and NWI (and linkable). Plus, Lightning is basically the best anti-Hacker program.
Yup. Iz makes her very versatile. Not to forget she comes with Boarding Shotgun, very useful weapon. I'd still have preferred to have the HD+ on Deva, but what were got is awesome. :)
So... In regard to Asuras... I've been tryig to develop an OSS list aroung the Asura. Haris options could be nice but they cannot compete IMHO with the sheer awesomeness of LT lv. 2 However she's so costly that I'm struggling to come up with an effective list. I feel I should include the Asura HD+ Lt, the Posthuman, a Dakini Link, a Shukra (just in case), an Apsara, a naga KHD and a Sophotect. .... aaaand I do not have enough points... Someone has come up with something better?
This is what I've come up at the moment. Honestly, Shukra would be better instead of Garuda, or maybe replace Dart with Shukra and upgrade one Lamedh, but I love my Garuda and Dart.
