Questions arising from Infinity Australia and discussions with the TO of a tournament in about 2 weeks.

    1. How is ownership of a heating unit determined? Is it by who activated it via a console or is it by table side? Assuming activation, but it could be more explicit. Conceivably both players can score 1 point if any heater is active.

    2. When it states "A Connected Console can be Connected again by the other player, applying the same procedure." what happens? I'm assuming that the heating unit previously activated by that console is no longer considered active, and the player nominates a new heating unit for that console? Can this be used to flip the ownership of an already active heater? Can this be used to activate a damaged or destroyed heater as a way of taking the console from the opponent?

    1. Activation. From the Heating Units text (my emphasis):
Player A and Player B Markers can be used to mark the Activated Heating Units. It is recommended each player uses a different kind of Marker.

    2. It just flips ownership of the Heating Unit that was already activated from that Console. See Effects bullet three:
    • You cannot Activate more than one Heating Unit for each Console.

The text could be a lot clearer, but basically once someone has Connected a Console, that Console is locked to a specific Heating Unit for the rest of the game. Note that this means that only three of the four Heating Units can ever be Activated.

Another question. With only 4 heating units the OPs for securing the exclusion zone will never be scored as anyone there will die at the end of turn 3. Correct, or did I miss something?

Also in ITS10 document Frostbyte has an extra: Limited Insertion.

    Is this correct ?

I would bet it's not correct: in the Spanish version that is nowhere to be found in Frostbyte (congelación, pg 30), and in the english version shows up only in the "extras" lists, and it's the only one that has not been explained.

So just to clarify, once a Heating Unit is on, it is on, and can't be turned off. All you can do is change ownership of the Heating Unit by activating the console that was used to turn it on.

    Correct?

You can also rip it to pieces in close combat, but yes that's the only way to stop one working.

Most definitely, yes, destroy it to stop it working. But it can't ever be 'turned off' via a console.

That's the way I had read it during Kurage, but we never bothered to go looking for an official answer. Those online campaigns happen so fast.

I think it is written that once console was connected to heating unit, it cannot connect to other heating unit (this console).

That would be a really dirty trick.

On a side note, does flipping the ownership of a Heater change anything for units located in the zone affected by that Heater? I mean, do my adversary's non-HI, non-TAG and non-DT troops left in their DZ freeze to death at the end of the 3rd Game Round if I flip the ownership of the Heater located in the enemy DZ?

    Dont know about dirty.

Flipping ‘ownership’ does nothing to whether the heaters are on or off.

Since there are 3 consoles to 4 heating units, the only thing you can do is to "steal" the activation order to one of the "off" Heaters. But if the heaters have been destroyed... well...
