I guess he is the only one who could answer, but I would understand if he didn't. After all, there were two tough years for Tohaa, with almost no releases except Neema resculpt. And probably other factors had their share. I do remember he expressed a similar possibility (to drop off from wargaming) last year on his YT channel, so maybe this was The time for it.
Likely a big part is that there were no releases coupled with the constant needling/trolling on the part of CB and its representative at events.
When I "started" Tohaa (actually just bought a bunch of random stuff), there were nothing apart from the old stuff, like Gao rael, Sakiel, whatnot, so no Kaeltar, Kosuil, Sukeul, Kerail, Kaauri. Then I've picked up Tohaa recently, like few months ago, and third/half the range is new for me! There's no point here, just anecdote.
sad to see dasaan go, but it really is just another sign of the coming tohaapocalypse. cb clearly could care less about the faction. this forum was the last to have a stickied post about tactics (it was posted a while ago, just was the last to have it stickied), and overall its the least popular of their armies. seeing as how they have made it a pattern to drop their least popular factions instead of reinvigorating them, the writing is on the wall. to be fair, tohaa have had a good run of it, and it seems now is as good a time as any to quit the game if they are your only faction.
1 instance is not a pattern. They can drop the least popular faction too many times, because they'll end up with zero factions then. Stop the whining guys, you are getting worse than Pano, and that's a huge bunch of whinebabies there (me included)!
That's an impossible feat .They are literally crying over the lack of interest of profiles we don't have yet
Really? Tohaa doesn't have interesting profiles? Like seriously? Take the Kaeltar. EVERYTHING on it is pure gold and nearly zero bloat. Likely the cheapest CoC in the game with the best ability in the game. Perfect Triad filler while also bringing a shotgun to the party. The Kaauri has fluff and utility toolbox of two visors 6th sense L2 just for fun, and I have no idea how to use a nullifier but take one SWC free, for reasons, just so you can try it out easily. For a dirt cheap price with a bunch of random weapons that are actually useful. You need a turret in your DZ? Choose randomly! Not the combi rifle, nobody loves the combi rifle. Makaul just makes you cry it's so useful. The Kerail. So you have too much dirt cheap eclipse smoke everywhere, and you want to try out shooting through a smoke screen with MSV2? Yeah, you can't do that with an HMG like the cool guys do, so on top you'll get a highly optimized smoke platform with inexplicably low PH and the dirt cheap weapon that's all the rage now, with two CC bullies with DTW weapons. The only boring thing about Tohaa is that Sukeul's Mimetism deprecates a lot of other options, because BS13 + Mimetism just shoots better (and that's a really weird thing to write down). Imo Tohaa would be much more interesting, if they would drop the mimetism on Sukeul.
But those are old interesting profiles! Where's the new interesting stuff to make me completely rewrite my lists so I can get the best possible advantage over the non-Tohaa plebs? Gao-rael is overcosted, Ectros is too fragile, Clipsos is too limited on specialist options, Taqeul is too bloated. Really, it's like CB doesn't even understand how difficult it is to try and be competitive with such outdated, bottom-of-the-barrel statlines and profiles.
There are mostly speculations and a few concept arts around for Varuna. And a Feuerbach ORC, which is not exactly something people should shit their pants over. Otherwise we have Nisse, religious Nisse without mimetism, Nisse with worse armor and HMG Nisse without MSV2 but with Mimetism. Oh, and a Bolt Paramedic sculpt nobody needed, nobody wanted. Or just compare Tech-bees new rule to anything else in the new rules doc. So the only problem with Tohaa is there were no releases in the last whatever time, which is bad. The french on the other hand had all old and ugly sculpts, and nobody really played them. Funny, they were how Ariadna actually should be, like really low tech, like HI with 1W and shock immunity and ARM3.
We have o ton of advantages over other factions with a few disadvantages. And we have Gao-Rael: 2 wounds + symbiomate on an sniper with MSV2 and burst 3/2 for 31 points. I don't really understand you. Ectros: 3 wounds + symbiomete to fragile? His problem is, that he is hackable. Remove this and he will perhaps be played more often. Clipsos: TO Chamo on an specialist for 25 is dirty cheap. We missing hacker, so what. Taquel: Didn't play till today, cause the other options in Tohaa are to good. 36 points for an triad is the whole problem. For 50 points you get an carefree package with specialist, SWC-free special weapon, Eclipse Smoke and HFT. WTF? Hope your complete statement is sarcasm. We have everything up to hacker. Sometimes, I feel dirty, when I play against not maxed out army list of other factions.
I'm sad to see him go as well. His Tohaa tactics gave me a good insight about army play style when I was starting. Kudos for all he has done.
Shame to see you go, specially now that I just grabbed some Tohaa myself :( I hope your next project is at least as fulfilling as Infinity was for you at the best times! I assume it's "1 Fire wound = loss the whole Symbiont". I would have preferred for Fire wounds to auto wound the first impact, and then you keep rolling, instead of lose all symbiont on the first fire wound :(
It still was sarcasm. Current fire ammo rules have no effect to Symbiont armors with W1, so we are better of with these rules than anything else. Except for Gorgos, Ectros, Rasail. I'd rather not have auto wounds, the possibility of having another roll is just nice to hold on, even with Tohaa's cardboard armor - which is not the case with Ectros and Gorgos, though as fire usually comes with templates, there's a pretty big AP effect there as well.
Yep, my point was to make those units see the table... As it is, Tohaa players just don't use them and play with unhacakble HI troops, which is kinda cheesy, with the price for that being not using three multiwound models (or having to remove enemy Fire sources before risking them).
Fire ammo can kill anything pretty fast, it doesn't have to be a Gorgos :) I agree that it's a shame that people doesn't play Ectros or Gorgos much, but I'd rather keep on using Sukeul and Sakiel than seeing them nerfed.
