I think I prefer the AHD over his other profiles, he's a pretty rock hard specialist even with KHDs running around (BTS 9 helps). The Spitfire would be a really cool premiere gun in a full link.

From my understanding of the fluff, the Father Knight would probably be anywhere a PanO monastery is. Father knight seems to be a pretty general term for a higher-up care taker of a church/local order. I could definitely see the Church having some type presence on Varuna, having moved in when Varuna was initially being colonized and any indigenous alien species needing to be taught about Jesus and the bible

BTS9 was really strong/good when there were "only" AHD running around. Masetro/Redrum DAM16 is really hard to tank (when you are at -6 WIP due to programs&surprise).
Actually not true. Fluff suggest that they are deployed alongside normal PanO forces, which might suggest that they serve an actual role of chaplains (as Father Knights are ordained priests).

There is an acutal discussion if the actual Revelation&Gospel would be valid/applicable/important for "aliens".

Eh, I'm sure they tell the story to anyone/thing that is willing to listen. Although, maybe resurrection would be a little less impressive if they also showed them a Cube.

with decent protection (a hexa KHD, or in this case a crocman KHD) and good KHD awareness, I feel as though he can be a pretty decent piece IF he can link.

You know what I want for PanO?

A layer of "Symbioarmour" that only works on Hacking Attacks. Mind Ward or whatever you want to call it, but make it happen.

If it doesn't happen in the wargame, it's sure as hell going to happen in my RPG.

Worth repeating that pretty much all infinity game design is dictated by fluff before anything else. That's been confirmed any number of times by people who've been to interplanetario and spoken to CB staff.

This. Figure out the theme and purpose behind a troop and, by extension, an army, and then plug away to bring that to life on the tabletop.

    CoC in PanO.
    Jammers in PanO.
Seraph actually having WIP13 (piloted by MO Officers)
    Seraph being actually S6.
    Father Knights "leading" anyone.
    Aquila being CoC unit.
    KotHS being anywhere near "elite".
Singh being actually a good AD unit.

This actually confuses me alot. If you read the unit descriptions in the N3 book how can that be real? Most troops in there have so vague and boring descriptions it baffles me. Nearly everyone is just the absolute awesome elite and never it actually implies into what equipment or skills the unit uses.

Just compare the N3 descriptions of the troops to actually tabletop rules:

    Aquila Guard
    Best equipment. Super elite.

    Swiss Guard
Best equipment (again) Only super Elite. Defend the Church.

If you check description vs rules here you could actually completely switch out of profiles (and name) of them both and no one would ever know.

Edit: Not to mention the description of the Father Knight vs his rules. (raises morale. Totally.)

You need to differentiate with the published unit descriptions, which are fluff/propaganda pieces for the citizens of the sphere (or whichever hole the CA crawled out of!), and the CB internal unit descriptions, which we will never see. They, the designers, come up with a unit theme and description that guides the design process to the eventual profile, look, equipment etc.

    I've seen internal Bipandra description:

    "Ephitamy of PanO's boredoom"

    Interplanetario 2017:

    Q. From the game design point of view, how does Gutier start when designing a troop for Infinity?

    A. The first stage is to check the army list and see what is currently missing. New units need to have different behaviours and play differently from the rest of the army -they must fill a hole of some kind. Once the profile starts being created then Gutier will start thinking of an appropriate background to go with it.

He tries to not to do the opposite as it isn't a good approach for the game. Sometimes you can have lots of crazy ideas from the background but it doesn't always work when translated to the game table. The troop might be too weird, complicated or powerful and so it's better to start with the numbers and then provide the story behind them.

    So Ive been thinking,

And I could almost see the Tikbalang making an appearance in Varuna as the S6 TAG. Not only does it have a lovely shiny model and would work well alongside the Cutter. taking into account that PanO have a few units that show up in multiple sectorials the Tikbalang is also undoubtedly an "Oceania" unit hailing from the Philippines, we know that malaysia and the Philippines are a part of PanO and Tikbalangs always struck me as right at home alongside Kamau, and Crocmen.

Pardon me for crashing the party...

Weapons loadout is comparable to Taskmaster or Kriza Boracs.

Exactly, if they survive the entry team we hospitalize and interrogate, else we re-rez in virtual and interrogate.

    Watch/read Altered Carbon.

Fragging too many hostages will definitely drive your insurance premiums through the roof.

Eh, I think the more fluff-accurate read would be some flavor of "goes Irregular/X-Impetuous once the pressure suit is breached." Low-Tech B or something similar, maybe?

    Point of Order.

The Church is not the ONLY controlling organ for Resurrections. Just the biggest.

(I think by % population, more of PanO is actually Islamic or Hindu than Christian, with Buddhists a plurality in there somewhere as well. But Christians have been getting a lot of converts in Hindu areas among the low-caste, so today's demographics aren't a good representation, just a starting point.)

    Exactly.

Now, I could see the SpacePope calling for a Crusade and splitting most of the Military Orders loose from the PanO Military Complex. I don't think it's a good idea, but it at least is a better fluff start for making MO NA2 than what was presented for Uprising.

I am so glad I wasn't drinking anything when I read that... would have killed the computer!
