Bromads! Check my math on this. An unexpected change in my work schedule has opened up the possibility of going to NOVA Open at the end of the month. This would be my first Infinity tournament. Unfortunately, the 3 round Mid-Tier ITS is Direct Action with Deadly Dance, Frontline, and Decapitation. Unfortunately because I don't have a TAG. I'm also limited by my current model collection, and what I can reasonably proxy with my official CB minis. So here is what I've come up with to handle Deadly Dance. It's hacker forward, and I plan on using my Frontline/Decap list if I wind up paired with a faction like Ariadna. Double Ds ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 10 INTERVENTOR Hacker Lieutenant (Hacking Device Plus) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 25) MARY PROBLEMS Hacker (Forward Deployment L1) Submachine Gun + Zapper, Pitcher / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 30) ZERO Hacker (Assault Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 24) ZERO Hacker (Killer Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 21) CLOCKMAKER Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 18) ZONDBOT Electric Pulse. (0 | 3) MODERATOR Combi Rifle + Pitcher / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0.5 | 10) TSYKLON Spitfire, Pitcher / Electric Pulse. (1 | 31) TSYKLON Feuerbach, Pitcher / Electric Pulse. (1 | 34) TRANSDUCTOR ZOND Flash Pulse, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 8) TRANSDUCTOR ZOND Flash Pulse, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 8) GROUP 2 4 SPEKTR Hacker (Assault Hacking Device) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 36) SPEKTR Hacker (Assault Hacking Device) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 36) SALYUT (Minesweeper, Repeater) Electric Pulse. (0 | 8) SALYUT (Minesweeper, Repeater) Electric Pulse. (0 | 8) 5 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army Here's the plan: The basic plan is to use a tar pit strategy with repeaters and distribute my points among the four quadrants. The two Zeros will roll to Infiltrate past the mid-line. If successful, great, the goal will be to put them in separate quads, in hard-to-reach spots (terrain permitting). If they fail, no big deal as they can help prevent DZ AD, and they're supposed to be hacking through repeaters anyway. The two Spektrs will infiltrate into the two quads closet to my DZ, also preferably in hard to reach spots, in hidden deployment. Mary Problems will forward deploy into the quad that has the best position vis a vis terrain, and the Moderator will deploy near the neighboring quad. If I get first turn, the goal is to have Mary and the Moderator shoot Repeaters into their quads, preferably from positions that won't provoke AROs. The Transducers will be on opposite ends of the DZ, to zip up as far as they can get into the far quads, grab some cover, and park it to provide repeater coverage and flash pulse ARO speed bumps. Salyut zonds will make moves into the two closest quads and park it in the best available cover, to provide repeater coverage closer to the DZ and beef up my point value with Baggage. The Spitfire Tsyklon will push into midfield backed up by a zondbot, drop a repeater or two in the midfield if the opportunity presents itself, and hopefully go into suppressive fire, possibly with a little Assisted Fire stank from the LT order. The Feuerbach Tsyklon will hang back, backed up by the Clockmaker, to light up any REMs or HI that get immobilized, basically any targets of opportunity. The four AHDs are for possessing enemy TAGs, hopefully to do a little killing as the list is sorely lacking in actually taking out enemy models that aren't hackable. The two KHDs are there to protect my extensive network from enemy hackers. All in all, the goal is to make points by already having most of what I need in the various quads, and only having to shift a Tsyklon or a Salyut to out-score the quad or deny the opponent. I think there's a sporting chance with a lucky matchup, like pretty much any list with 25%+ invested in TAG(s) and/or HI. I think it'll be pretty fragile with a bad matchup, but my options are limited.
let's hope the opponent actually brought a TAG. if his idea to win the round was to crush his enemy TAG with brutal firepower, all that firepower will be redirected to your line troopers.
Indeed, yes. I could wind up with a really hard counter to this list. As far as I understand, I'll only know the Mission, my opponent's faction, and my Classified Objectives before I choose what list to use. Still though, I expect most factions will be more likely to take a TAG for this mission than not, but I don't really know. This is my first tournament. What factions are more likely to not take a TAG? Ariadna for sure, and even if they take a tag, I'm much better off using my other list anyway. But are there any other factions or sectorials I be looking out for to use my alternate list?
Steel Phalanx doesn't have one. Aleph is either unlikely to field their 120Pts TAG as it is expensive, or likely to field it if the player likes it and makes a list around it. It really depend on the player's style. Unlike other faction where having a TAG for that mission is almost an auto-include. Personally i rarely take a TAG to TAG missions, as my philosophy is that both TAG will kill each other leaving both players on a low point tie, then I might as well swap my own TAG for something better, kill his TAG (or possess it), then I'm better off. My own TAG being the bakunin Lizard. I agree for most players it is more likely they bring a TAG than not.
Thanks for the advice! So Ariadna, Steel Phalanx, and probably Aleph unless I spot that TAG on the tray ;). Use the alt list.
That's a list I used in the past with quite and I think it can be easyly transformed into a vanilla Nomad list. Thanks Tristan! Can you break down how you normally run that list? I might could proxy that, but it’s a bit different from what I normally play with. There’s lots of fleshy humans in that list, lol. I likes mah robutts. Taking a Daktari is pretty foreign to me. If it can’t be fixed by an engineer, does it deserve to live? I’ll try something like this tomorrow. And make a theoretical Bakunin list for Decapitation and Frontline to go with it. See how it feels. Edit: Also, what’s the Salyut in there for?
I think the idea is, if you go second, you can use Overclock to get B2 in Aro with all of you remotes.
This list is highly dependant of an opponent who fields at least one TAG and it actually becomes easier to play if the opponent has more TAGs. An opponent who doesn't bring one and an Avatar list will be really tough to compete against. Normally I try to go 2nd and the whole purpose of this List is to get the enemy TAG posessed and to move it out of the Designated Quadrant. If I can further force my opponent to act against his own TAG that's even better. Also that's why there are so many cheap units:high order counr means much fuel for the stolen TAG @Ben Kenobi Hacking rerolls. Coordinated Hacking. 20 Points extra. Classic Supportware. B2 in ARO is useless if you can do Suppression Fire, especially with Pi-Well :)
The list is light on REMs, so Overclock wouldn’t be that useful. The TR bot doesn’t need it (and is probably running Assisted Fire), the Tsyklon can go into Suppressive Fire, and so can Pi-Well. I like Overclock for Lunos and Feuerbach Tsyklons. Puppetbots are usually in a 3 man link, but if they lose a model Overclock is good for the boarding shotgun FOs, especially if you already want to have it up anyway. If you’re running two transducers, a brace of lunos, and a Feuerbach Tsyklon, Overclock is the shizzy. I hadn’t thought about the re-rolls and coordinated hacking. That’s worth it if you’re trying to possess a tag. But it is also potentially Command Token intensive.
There are some inconsistencies here. TR bot can`t benefit from Overclock because it doesn`t have built-in Repeater. Puppets can`t benefit from any Suportware, it`s directly stated in their rules.
Yea, my bad on that. I hardly ever use Overclock, so I forgot that requirement when I was replying. And for some reason I keep failing to read the ‘no supportware’ bit in the G:Marionette rule whenever I look for it. I’ve never put supportware on them in practice. I’ve only ever run Overclock when I’ve got two lunos and a couple of transducers. I much rather have my Spitfire Tsyklon in suppressive fire. Yea, I see it now. All the way at the bottom. I think I’ve just gotten bored and distracted every time I went to hunt for it in the rules. There’s a lot of wordy BS in the G: Marionette rules.
