So...if you completely change everything about the profile except the MI marking...its just a bolt...? You know you can do this with Sekban, or Briscards, or any other MI...you can even do it with HI too! You are literally just building a different trooper with the points. If you find Yadu boring, or unimaginative...well that's on you. Personally I think the Yadu is a very interesting and fun trooper. I love them. Shukra are a bit bland but fill a hole. But this completely chopping up a profile to compare it in the most fringe sense to another in the game is an act of futility. The only similiarity between Bolts and Yadu is that they share a couple stats and the MI tag, which by the way half of all the other MI do as well. Thats why they are all MI they are all similar stats wise.
BoW had previews of other profiles. Yeah heavy pistols aren't great with multi rifles, but they're great with HMGs and Heavy Rocket Launchers. Linked Yadu look mean, and even solo the pistol is useful, my Kriza hmg gets a lot of use out of it, though it's a last resort. (And the Kriza does it better for +20 points).
okay im new playing infinity so maybe you see my comment stupid but.. i think the hollow mEn are FAR better than yadu no? iknow yadu are MI and the hollow men HI So maybe they are not comparable but i see the point cost, equipment, and stats and i cant avoid think like that xd
Until you need an HMG... Or E/M... Or to bypass an enemy Hacker... Superficial resemblances, like both sorta-kinda having 2 wounds, or being BS13, are pretty much surface-level things. Basic fundamental gameplay differences, like being able to drop/throw a mine or not, or having Spitfire vs HMG rangebands... These are significant differences in capability that make two different units, in two different armies, very hard to compare directly. My read on it is that Yadus are a solid unit that offers a useful, valuable role. They have a lot of tools for a lot of situations, and they're very hard to contain because standard area denial tools (Shock mines, one-hit direct templates, Jammers, Hacking) don't really do anything to them. That's a great tool in a Sectorial for whom a basic landmine is a very, very major obstacle: REMs struggle to Dodge or otherwise bypass it, and Dogged/NWI units fear them like the plague. The Yadu can help address all of that, and I'm looking forward to seeing them on the table.
I can't agree with @barakiel more. Sure super jump and 6-2 move is amazing and awesome and waaaaay better... Until you run into a situation where it's not. 6-2 move is great until you enter a rough terrain zone. Being phys 10 and cc 10 is a great way to save points until a pal bot walks into cc and practically autostuns you with eletero pulse, or you need to dodge an emauler.
For me atm Yadu feels like it has a place in links hopefully i can use a multi rifle/ em arat profil in dakini links. For long range a dakin hmg is a better gun fighter especially if buffed and/or linked. Dart seems like she can do a lot of the same stuff as a solo yadu.
If you want a "solo-Yadu", just choose Shakti: 2 real wounds, specialist, killer hacker (cybermask, so marker state and surprise shot), similar firepower...
In a similar vein, Yadu Officer Shaktii also looks great, especially if she can be your Lt (which by all measures she should be). She's got a True 2 wounds so worries less about unlucky Viral AROs, she's got an excellent gun in the Mk12 and she has a Killer Hacking Device which lets her pass unmolested through minefields and have Surprise Shot, all courtesy of CyberMask. All that for only 40 points - ez sell.
Sorry to butt in, but isn't Yadu the all-in-one box solution of ALEPH's known weaknesses? After playing against pre-Coldfront ALEPH they seemed like Suffer hard from DTWs... Yadu got NWI And ARM 3. Really hates shock ammo... Oh you got shock immune, Ok. Isolated hits hard... Vet 1? Ok. Unsustainable anger against mines... That wont kill you outright. Even aside from their awesome weaponry they are superb units, and as a Yu Jing player Im kinda nervous thinking about facing these guys soon enough. Man I envy these units.. P.S) As many ALEPHers mentioned, suck on this, Mutts. :P
I am definitely not experienced enough to have a truly informed opinion, but it seems to me that the usefulness of Yadu will hinge on their linkability. Shakti certainly could be a strong solo piece, as many have mentioned, but I think speculation isn't going to do us much when we don't know what the fireteams are going to look like.
Maybe there will be sectorial compositions on interplanetario. CB has to divide hype between it and gencon. There was nothing new (except frontoviks) about big gencon release on gencon so maybe interplanetario will bring us something new (and full aleph beyond profiles unless there is only 1 option for rudra)
Linkability will definitely mean a lot as to how flexible they'll be, but I'm pretty sure they'll be useful on their own, too. Not just Shakti. This makes sense. I'm sure they'll let us know at least a bit more. As for the Rudras - I can see them having another loadout, still armed with Multi. Just the Mine Dispenser being replaced by another weapon. This way they wouldn't have to release another box of them after Beyond Coldfront.
They way MR rifle is mounted can suggest that even Beyond Box could have an additional "weapon bit" to exchange MR (for something else).
Yadu has NWI and Shock Immunity! It's almost like full 2 Wounds, only a few factions/sectorials have access to Viral ammo! Spoiler: All vanilla + NCA
I'm not surprised to see Viral in Shasvastii, this was to be expected. NCA is a pleasant surprise, though. But I don't see getting dramatic over introduction of single (at least for now) additional counter for Yadu's strengths. We'll probably see a lot more new sources of Shock, than Viral.
