And even then I'm not sure my explanation works: I can find no reason that Technical Weapons or Throwing Weapons are necessarily also BS Weapons. But it's possible I'm missing something. In which case, Spleen's explanation of a specific complete list of exceptions would be cleaner. For reference, nowhere does it say that they're BS Weapons merely that can make BS Atttacks.
Yes. What @ijw seemed to be saying was that had effectively been errata'd away, which is why I presented an errata'd variant of the text.
Not that secret. We get to proof read some of the things a couple of days before release, some things were changed (like the wrong part of a question being in bold) some things didn't (like FO being claified)
Just so I'm on the same page, this ruling doesn't effect two drop bears being thrown at once does it?
Oh good. I was concerned that because it's a deployable it might be effected but I guess its still a deployable weapon. edit: Confused myself. When thrown its a thrown weapon not deployable so same as before.
My guess is this is a response to fix the grid. It makes no other sense. Problem is this doesn't fix the grid. That or there is a new rule that would interact in an awkward way. Because this nerf/ruling complicates things unecessarily. Even if it wasn't intended this way this does nothing to improve the game.
Hello, I' really don't know others "methas" except the nearest to me, but in my regular game place, no one use FO except to achieve the Classified Targets, so... this clarification don't see to me neccesary to "put down" something "broken", and only brings more confusion. Like others said before: FORWARD OBSERVER SHORT SKILL BS Attack, Optional. REQUIREMENTS The user must be able to draw LoF to the target. EFFECTS The use of Forward Observer is a form of Attack with a BS Weapon that uses the WIP attribute, and instead of forcing the target to make an ARM Roll, forces him to enter the Targeted state. Place a Targeted Marker (TARGETED) near the target of a successful Forward Observer attack. The Forward Observer Special Skill also grants its user a BS Weapon called Flash Pulse, to be used in accordance with its description and weapon profile. In certain missions and scenarios, Forward Observers are considered Specialist Troopers, that is, they meet the requirements to fulfill certain mission objectives. It is logical to asumme that FO is a weapon and gets +1Burst. But it is Ok, now is in the FAQ, wich probably only read the people who go into tournaments. :'/ Greetings
oh well, an FAQ should clarifiy the existing rules, but instead it created a 4 pages long thread 24h after its release and leaves everyone confused... I can only take that as a VERY messed up balancing rule that changes the interpretation that everyone played as of yet.
Why the heck the FAQ released recently (like last few), always generate more confusion and problems than they actually fix ;/
I think roughly speaking, the FAQs are starting to tackle issues that people are invested in interpreting a different way.
I did, it says the use of the skill is "a form of attack with a BS weapon" that does not make it a weapon
So you are saying that if I did mention you with a form of insulting phrase... That does not make it an insult!!! Mask
I don't really see how the intricacies of interpersonal communication, particularly whether or not an individual finds something insulting is at all relevant to a discussion on the mechanics of a miniature wargame
