Save for the fact that Nagas were designed from the get go to fill that role, with their training on Acontecimento and with the Shock Army always being part of who and what they are, and with their moniker coming, in part, from that training and connection. And, reading the article on Dart's design, her seamlessly being part of several armies was, again, part of the design from the off.
Which changes nothing from the point that for some people it will always be that those units are ALEPH first. It's no different than the whole Alguaciles in Qapu-Khalqi thing. They can be renamed sure, but they're still Alguaciles.
Has anybody seen this? So! a Tankhunter gets CoC and PanO gets a big fat 0. This is what we are all talking about.
We don't know yet, but the lPanO is probably getting a few new units(or unit updates) once Varuna drops and that will effect generic PanO. Maybe we will find out Saturday.
Yeah, the great and powerful Bostria talked about linked Kamau in a BOW video back when the Beyond boxes were released.
Yeah, to be fair this isn't the time to complain about other people getting things when we aren't. OF COURSE Ariadna and ALEPH are getting things right now. They just got a new "vs" box with new units and are about to get new sectorials (whenever those get released) which will include even more awesome new stuff for them. Now, a VERY LITTLE of that cool new stuff might filter through to NCA, Acon and ISS because of our loan ALEPH units, but that's no reason to complain that we aren't getting more. That's just us getting secondary benefits from the upgrades that ALEPH is picking up from their new sectorial and army box. When Varuna drops then we will see what CB has in store for PanOceania. It'll either be more "boring as a deliberate design choice" or it won't. ... We will see.
Going to be honest here, I think that's the perfect time when it's not just unit profiles that are being added but slews of new skills and the like. "Boring as a deliberate design choice" is, IMO, not the same as "We have all these new skills but don't want to put them anywhere old". There's only so many times I can reasonably believe that they have balance in mind when we get things like Full Auto or Fatality.
I think this misses my point about as hard as it's possible to. No. Now is NOT "the perfect time" to complain about other people getting things we aren't. Because this is the turn of ALEPH and Ariadna to get their cool new stuff. Our turn is coming, and fairly soon too. If Varuna comes and goes and we still have dick all to show from the exciting new direction the game has been taking recently THEN it'll be time to complain. Whining now just looks petulant and petty. Because it's petulant. And it's petty.
Guys, comparing a faction with Ariadna (we got all the more efficient profiles and lots of oddballs too) or Nomads (we got everything there is and it's cheaper than yours) is not gonna end well for any faction. I agree the main problem with PanO is that it's boring to play, but seriously, would you rather play YJ at the moment?
And it feels like you've missed the point of my commentas well: The complaints aren't strictly "We aren't getting anything cool!". It seems to be predicated upon the fact that, as an issue that exists for all factions(which is something I've been harping on in multiple threads I might add...), old factions/units don't see new skills or weapons introduced to them until CB decides that it's some mystical timeframe where it becomes needed. Things also are likely being exacerbated by the fact that the addition of "Dart" might be seen in a negative light, given that she brings a lot into SAA that's been asked for by PanO in general but not added until a non-PanO unit gets added. ALEPH got "cool new stuff" with HSN3. There were a rather large number of new nameds and we've seen some new units since then too. Ariadna got similar with USARF. If Varuna comes and goes and we still have dick all to show from the exciting new direction the game has been taking recently it does nothing for any of the other three Sectorials. How many NCA units are in SAA? SAA units in NCA? MO is the only one with some real bleedover and even that's a one-way trip for all intents and purposes. And labeling things as "whining" sets a bad precedent where legitimate complaints can be pawned off as nothing important.
I'll be relatively blunt in saying this bit: I'm of the opinion that it is important for people to express their displeasure over the proliferation of skills or weapons to only new factions. This is a Big Deal when the company has outright said that they use Army as a metric for figuring out things and when the game can shift based upon the introduction of skills/weapons. There's no point to be made in saying things like "TAK has a 1 SWC Chain of Command model but PanO doesn't!"---but there's also no point in saying that there is "X coming so just wait and see what that brings to the faction!". Say it with me here: Vanilla being bolstered by new items is not the same as a Sectorial being bolstered by it. If an underpowered sectorial's parent faction gets a buff with a new sectorial and models in it, that doesn't help the underpowered sectorial unless that unit ends up getting added in elsewhere. All honesty? I could write pages of how I would "fix" PanO. I won't--because inevitably it will become the same cycle of bickering and silliness that it always would on the old forums. I do think it important to acknowledge though that one new subfaction will not fix issues with the others, whether it reflects new design values or not. Not unless those design values are going to be applied retroactively.
I was debating whether to stick with the old username or not. I almost decided to go incognito...but eh. Why "hide" that I'm back? But hey, there's a topic. Why PanO can't have nice things...it's because reasons, right? ;)
Dart is the Gencon exclusive. This is similarly timed but ultimately not tied to the release of Vedic models. The Gencon release has generally had limited relevance to the current release as far as I can remember. PanO or nomads didn’t get a Gencon character with Icestorm nor did Yu Jing or Haq with Red Veil.
However, Dart is a different kettle of fish entirely, the first character designed from the ground up to be both an Aristeo and a troop in Infinity. Past experience is no guide with her.
