It does give it an anti-materiel weapon for scenarios that need them. But yeah, the Ratnik has the 0-8" range pretty well covered.
I'm not seeing anti material on them. Edit: I guess it has a passage about it under DA on the wiki, but what is the point of having anti-material as a trait then.
That's actually a good point, we just assumed it would be anti material because it's DA but it does not actually have the trait
The DA CC weapon does specify it is antimaterial on the wiki. It does feel it a bit odd the trench hammer lacks it though. Hopefully we'll see that fixed. I'm disappointed it doesn't have a plus range. :( gonna have to really have someone in the open to throw it.
It's pretty cool to use it to get a double surprise shot and basically force an enemy to dodge (combined with chain-colt), but wouldn't it be better to just surprise attack anyway? I don't know, it just feels kind of awkward. Good thing it's cheap
Throwing weapon - it hits with his PH not BS. He can toss that puppy. Edit- ninjaed. ^ It actually makes the Antipode really useful as a close range attack piece assuming he accidentally ends his MOV just out of b2b.
I'm kinda mad the ratnik gets duo but the blackjack doesn't. :( Though 4 swc is a bit of a steep pricetag in TAK
The blackjack has both profiles built to cover multiple range bands, the ratniks look like they've been made to compliment each other. Which is fine but leaves a little to be desired in vanilla when you're only ever going to have 1...
Putting it politely, the issue is less that "both profiles" are built to do anything and more that a skill which should realistically be put onto both items is only present on the newest thing. Blackjacks are supposed to be the anchors of the USARF lines, yet have not been given any of the skills that one might consider for such a unit (Mine Dispensers and Full Auto immediately spring to mind) nor were they given any profiles that made sense with the brief excerpts we got of them also acting as linebreakers(which is where the Ratnik profiles would immediately have come into play). PERSONALLY, it feels like the Ratniks are using unused Blackjack profiles.
You might be onto something there Considering the fluff blurb, I was rather surprised the profile didn't have more "in your face" stuff. The muffler thing in particular made me think something along the lines of mech deployment
Honestly, the more I've seen for TAK...the more it feels like USARF was TAK v1.0 with unused/revised concepts making the final product. Streloks feel like what Foxtrots and Hardcases get portrayed as for an example.
Meh, I'm throughly unimpressed by Ratniks, cost too much for what it gives. I'd much rather take the Blackjacks. The AP HMG is best left to the sectoral since there are better options in vanilla for a HMG attacker but the T2 sniper for SWC 1 is a steal. In fact, I'd rather not have stuff like Mine Dispensers and Full Auto on the blackjacks. Their cheap cost is part of their appeal.
Now i'm dreaming of an Blackjack Profile with a Heavy Shotgun and 2 light rocket launchers on his back... thank you.
I am PB&J how he benefits from cover as well. I really wish the DD was a duo. Him benefiting from cover would make his weaker offense and massive price worth it.
Well, compare AP HMG to 2x molotok, and the fact that you are around 20pts cheaper, you really are getting a good deal with Blackjack. HRL one is B2 weapons, that is nothing really special. Wanna engage those link teams to benefit from blast template? Becasue smart enemy won't just crump his troops together when he sees that you have blast template, if he does, he is not really good. You will be at disadvantage and probably loose that ftf roll when going against links. So you are kinda praying for luck on your side...not my cup of teat to count on luck on a 44pts model.
