So what do you all suppose the Team America character in the new Dire Foes box is going to be? Grunt? Or Foxtrot?
Dire Foes are generally based on the same platforms as Specops, I'd say the chance of a USARF DF being based on and linkable with Grunts is very high. I would like to see a second profile with infiltration and limited camo though, similar to Yasbir/Konstantinos/Thrasymides.
This being said, with Kazak going out this year (with luck), we can hope for a new line kazak sculpt so I wish for a Kazak direfoes (linkable with the line kazak FT) not an american one
Damn right it does Just teasing This still begs the question, what kind of dude we are getting. Hacker type would be cool, or a special operative with D-charges as well. I would personally like someone else with camo, kinda of like a Uxia type.
D-Charges would be very welcome for USARF. Adding a Doctor/Engineer to a Grunt link would be really cool too (Preferably a Doc without the 0.5 SWC Bipandra tax.). Or an unusual midrange weapon, Mk12 is probably out for fluff reasons but an AP MMR, or LRL would be interesting, especially if combined with a Light Shotgun/SMG
The Mk12 has demonstrated effectiveness against different types of targets both in test centres and in live action, but its recoil is so strong as to be almost beyond human limitations, restricting the number of troopers who can carry it. If you notice, there's no normal humans carrying a Mk12. (Well, Sin Eater does, but i dont know if he can be considered "normal")
Yea, I wouldn't expect a Mk12. An Engineer Grunt with D-Charges and a weapon option not normally available to Grunts would be killer though.
Yup, Mk12s tend to be found in the hands of TAGs, REMs, Wulvers, and highly augmented Lhosts (Sin Eaters go through a lot of surgery). Oh, and big red faced monkey men.
Tbh we should probably wait for an actual Kazak sectorial. It would be curious how it will go especially since right now people are usually hard-pressed to make lists without Uxia/Chasseurs and other stuff. Special fireteams can also be a dealbreaker.
Please, no. If you want regular HI, dont play Ariadna. Im still raging about the BJ. Ariadna dont need it
First off: Phrasing! Second I think its more that the concept of a big bulky edge of tomorrow suit like the BlackJack doesn't fit well in any other faction, either thematically, or because they already have something that does the same job, and USAriadna needed a "flagship" unit. At the end of the day I don't think "do they need this" is ever a factor that prevents adding a new unit, or else everyone would end up with very similar units.
Lots of factions don't need lots of stuff. Don't take it if you don't like it. Edit: I didn't mean this to be as snippy as it seems. I like the idea of the Blackjack, and personally would like to see a Russian version, but then I like big HI.
if all factions start to get what they havent, what's the diference between playing an specifict faction? We will end with clonic armies. What is the point of giving Ariadna a real HI? Or giving Pano normal smoke? There is too much powercreep since N3. New factions are too powerfull since the old ones are mostly unpowered and some of them unplayable. PS: Sorry, historically, spanish people dont have a good relationship with the english language. It's almos like a meme XD XD
I think the Blackjack is different enough to other 'Proper HI' to be okay in Ariadna. 'Real HI' are not all the same, and therefore there is room for different factions to have real HI. There's real HI in 7/8 factions with enough variety, so having one that isn't a carbon copy of others is fine in Ariadna, imo.
The Blackjack I've come to realize is surprisingly well balanced. I mean, you aren't reaching for it all that often in Vanilla, but within the sectorial for which it is intended, it fills a fantastic niche for lists that otherwise largely rely on links to do your heavy combat lifting and provide a great anchor piece for the rest of the build to move around.
