The document would have been finalized and sent to the printers before they filmed the week with BoW, so it's entirely possible they just changed their mind in between.
This little bro. I keep planning on making one then forgetting to Sent from my SM-J320P using Tapatalk
The designs have moved on since then. I for one hope we dont have that as an actual unit. However i feel at43 pieces make excellent ariadna themed terrain
The problem with scouts is the poor selection of weapons. Give him a marksmen rifle and suddenly he's way more attractive. Maybe T2 marksmen rifle as a weapon option, but then again he already has marksmanship lv1 so Ap marksman rifle would be better for not causing too much bloat.
I know Scouts are on the expensive side when compared with other infiltrators, but I don't see a reason for them to change. They're fine as they are.
Fine as, rarely taken when you are always presented with more cost effective choices? Compared to let's say new strelok, for 29pts would I take B2 D14 AP ojotnik on BS12, or B3, D13 T2 markshman rifle on BS11, well, my choice would be really easy, having higher B and killing(well, putting them unconscious) any HI with single failed ARM roll, yea, who would want that when you have something like ojotnik?...it's just gets worse when you compare it to a 16pts profile, which also has AP&shock, can go in supression fire for much better chance of making enemy waste order to dislodge your 16pts guy than what scout will be able to. Yea, you are much more close quarter guy, but scout also want's to start around mid because infiltrate, otherwise why have infiltrate if you wanna be far away, just take some more effective sniper in your DZ? And on top of it, you are 13pts cheaper! Wanna have specialist? Well, 20pts chasseur with flamer and SSL1 or 30pts Scout? Really, it's not even a contest. Yea, there is ap ojotnik on scout, you might tackle heavy armor with it, but if I wanna tackle Heavy armor, I just might take something like autocanon, AP HMG, or just hit it in a back with ap rifle van Z and not fear retaliation at all. Scout is simply not order effective for something like that, not to mention has higher chance to be killed in ARO than B3-4 stuff(or even 5 if you take something in a link). I would like to love scout, but again and again, for how much he costs, I can always find something better&more cost effective.
It all depends on what tools you actually need, and unit availability. Let's say Streloks will be AVA 3 in TAK; three standout loadouts are T2 Marksman, K-9 and Minelayer, so we'll probably get some combination of the three, maybe throwing in FO. This still leaves some space for Scouts with their anti-heavy options (E/Mauler, AP ammo galore) and Shock - which isn't a minor consideration, especially if you;ll have an OSS player in your meta (even taking the cost into account Scout with BS is much more appealing to me than his Strelok counterpart). Tankhunters can't be everywhere - no Infiltration, 4-2 MOV - and cost a lot of SWC, so they'll probably cover main attack lanes, not move into midfield. We might also want to use Strelok Minelayers to fill midfield with markers, hiding Scouts in the clutter, positioned in a way that allows them to go after their intended targets, while still leaving a lot of markers behind, so enemy can't counterattack swiftly. I think this will be one of my favorites.
I think Scouts could use some spicing up with profiles. 4 out of 6 have ojotnik as a main weapon and it feels so weak. It's jack of all trades, master of none weapon.
Well BS12 vs BS 11 is only 5% difference, and Strelok gets 5% more chance for crit to due B3. But B3 gives you 50% more shots than B2, which gives you much higher chance to win ftf, which is more important. Tankhunters can't be everywhere, but so can't enemy. And you have stuff like spetnaz, link teams that will have BS 15-16 with mimetism and better weapons and +1B and SSL2, plenty of AP and T2 weapons on a lot of stuff...There is plenty of competition in that 30pts range. So kinda once again, unless I really wanna have all camo list, I fail to see why take expensive scout with mediocre ojotnik when given all other options. And in vanilla, there is plenty of camo available. Shock is scary for some armies, but so is flamer, that also has option to kill multi wound stuff. I rly do like model, he has potential, but some more weapon options on him would be nice to have and make him more appealing.
@Full of Freedom @holycannoli @Spleen @zagdag That looks like a fine S8 T2 HMG concept if i ever saw one
With this I fully agree. Right now Ojotnik is basically B2 AP Marksman Rifle. I'd love to see it get DA ammo instead. Still, AP sniper, E/Mauler and BS variants will see play in my lists.
Well, Ariadna its too terminological backwards to get the normal MultiHMG, but if a pile of Teseum canĀ“t fix all your problems, it can at least most hahahahahaha But for real, think about it, make it S8, moving 4-4, low-tech, Heavyweight, 2 str plus one ravaged with a OPERATOR to dismount, T2 HMG or even double Autocanon if CB thinks its too much (loosing great opportunity if they do) and some chestmines to represent active defense measures.......... its the closest thing to a tank you can get here, really gives the vibe of the brute force approach and a Tag for the missions you really need one for scoring. Hope someone in CB is reading this hahahahaha
Ojotniks are a cool concept, but they should come with a discount, as they are, basically, marksman rifles but worse. Heck they're not much better than regular rifles since you can't put them in suppressive It would be hella cool if they buffed the actual weapon though, but how would that go? What could make the ojotnik distinct yet comparable? The burst and range shouldn't change, if you change the burst it becomes a marksman rifle, if you change the range it becomes an AP sniper So we're looking at either a DAM boost (14 or 15), a different ammo type (DA? Maybe breaker? That sounds juicy), or a big points discount (Come on, Mosin Nagants are, what, 300 years old at this point? Make the OJ scouts 24 points)
