Hmm it definitely seems like the Cyberdancers are boosting stats at the very least. Maybe a table wide boost like the Tech Bee?
My guess would be more like Puppetnautica, all REMs can use her stats, but so long as any REM remains on the table she's helpless.
Hmm... how does what we've seen of the Rudra (only one profile, so I know we're limited in what we can analyse, but we've got the basic stats at least) stack up against some of the other attack remotes in human armies? PanO's Armbots, Yu Jing's Yaoxies, Nomad's Sputniks? Is it looking like it might be worthy of such glowing praise? EDIT: I mean, the Rudra has the same MOV, CC, BS, PH, & S as any of them, one lower WIP, the same BTS as the Yu King and Nomad offerings, but higher ARM than even the Nomad Sputniks, and a second STR, which none of them have. But it's almost twice the price of any of them bar the Tsyklon Sputniks or the Spitfire profile for the Peacemaker Armbot, of which it's only roughly a third again more expensive - and this is for a MULTI Rifle and a Mine Dispenser, instead of those REM's Spitfires and Fuerbachs. All of them also have Repeater, and the Nomad offerings also have Climbing Plus. The Yaoxies have MSV2, the Sputniks have either Minesweeper and a veritable arsenal of weapons or 360 & X Visors along with Pitchers, and the Armbots have either ODD or an Auxbot. Does the survivability edge bring the Rudra up on par with the best of those? I guess some of it will depend on exactly what Jumper LZ does for our remotes...
My guess is actually quite the opposite. The fluff blurb in the tunguska rules says something about G: marionette being an inferior form of the aleph jumper technology, with the main inferiority being the deep immersion if the operator. My guess would be that the cyber dancer can jump around in a similar manner as active proxy for posthumams, including jumping back into her own lhost, if need be.
Why don't they change Andromeda's fluff already so she is a crazy cat lady? It hurts me to read the background and wish for what that miniature/profile could have been
Why does steel phalanx have spies anyway, that seems counter to their direct action, punch you with a greek myth in between the pillars of whatever
So +4-8 pts over the Tsyklons is giving the added durability (+1 Arm, +1Str) at the cost of some more potent weapons. That said, we've only got 1 profile (I'd be surprised if there wasn't a heavier weapon loadout) and a Multi-rifle isn't exactly *bad*. Arm 4 in cover with Suppression and 2 wounds - that is some scary stuff. Add in supportware so the Multi is always AP+Shock...
You've seen Aliens, right? This is what happens when even elite combat unit goes into action against prepared enemy force without gathering information first ;) Plus whatever support Apsaras will be able to give...
Or depending on AVA for these and others - could make Vedic a viable all drone force and you could rely on Overclock a bit more over Suppressive (when not going first, for example).
For me it all boils down to more or less getting the blues of being underwhelmed. Dart is great and getting an CoC option (including CI) for Vedic is really nice, but that's it. All the other new stuff seems to depend on synergies - which is no good thing within Infinity - if it is nice to have at all. When it comes to Hacking, Nomads still should beat us every day (same number of Repeater and Hackers for by far less points). When it comes to shooting, Ariadna will just outgun us (especially within new TAK stuff, because of orders and Mimetism and Chamo everywhere). Up to now, there is no Smoke for us. Looks like playing Vedic on a competitive level outside of Limited Insertion will mean: bring as many Dakini as you can and add some random Camo/TO and/or AD (which is another variant of Dakini). Up to now, I am really disappointed, especially when I take a closer look at all the other factions I play (all of them). Well, as I really like bringing REMs that's just fine. It still feels like a missed opportunity to me. At least, it keeps Vanilla a valid option as you really really need those Myrmidons.
On one hand I'm really hoping they do something as cool as Tunguska. On the other hand I know Nomads are just the apples of CB's eye and nobody can ever get close to all the things they get.
@Harlekin, you're condemning the sectorial before we've seen it in its entirety. I suspect it'll be right on par with others when it comes to power level, even when playing elite.
I am also not hyped at all that it looks like we will see more „fixed“ synnergy, which ultimately takes away from infinity being about core mechanics. I could also see Vedic being competitive mostly when using Dakini links. Still open to positive surprises though.
I just want to say this is way super premature. We don't know if there are other unannounced unit types. We don't know if there are other profiles for units like rudras or asparas. We don't know what can link with what. Can rudras sub in for a daikini? We have speculation on what g jumper lz does. And even if it is highly synergistic, I'd trade getting my asparas killed top of 1 to kill a fiday in aro. I also think your underrating how sweet the yadu are.
All i want it to get some toys that make me feel like im using a highly technological faction, almost like "magic", not "everything you can do Nomads can do it better, cheaper, and with more twists" Sadly that's exactly what i think we are getting.
For now the only imposed synergy I see is that between Apsaras and Remotes, and even there it's just a hint, so we don't know how exactly will it work. What I do see, however, is fleshing OSS out in the 30-40 pts range - with Yadu, Shakti, and Rudras. Native CoC will allow for using more aggressive Lt's; add Yadu NCO to the mix, and suddenly we can count on using Lt order every turn, instead of just leaving it. I think we might see some more options for Devas and Dakinis, too. I think that the sectorial will allow us to play a completely different game than Dakini spam. Since we'll always be outnumbered we'll have to make each order count, killing and taking objectives as efficiently as possible, while forcing enemy to lose orders trying to take out our superior troops with his inferior ones. And this is exactly the vibe I'm getting from what we've seen so far. Yadu will be brutal in the midfield - they're resilient, and equipped against every possible foe. Rudra should be awesome as strike-and-bait unit. Shukra should make people hesitate to take our orders with Command Counters, while enabling us to use units like Marut or Asura Lt. to get deep into enemy territory, kill a few units, and then entrench and force him to split attention between objectives or taking such unit out (not that easy). And we don't know our fireteam options yet. What if Yadu/Shakti will be able to drag some cheaper Specialists behind? Who will be able to join Dakini teams (just imagine the Rudra there...)? How will Deva teams look out? I think it's all worth considering. edit: if people want to be pessimistic, fine. I'm hyped. From what I see we're getting a first rate elite AI fighting force, and Nomads can eat dust.
Don't get me wrong, I'm hyped too, specially about being able to play Aleph without cheesy Greeks. I love my killer robots. I would like some midfield Repeaters tho, maybe in the Naga.
As a person who absolutely wasn't into Aleph or Ariadna, I ordered the fricking Coldfront. I'm very intrigued by the new minis and profiles like Yadu, Rudras, Ratnik and Streloks. Extremely exited with the release.
