I think this should go here. I mean, a strangely popular yet dull meandering six-sided dice based game where few people know the rules, that takes ages, is all about gathering money, and 1-3 players can't do much while another player has their turn....
So I got a promotion about 2 months ago, but HR has yet to update my salary accordingly. I went down to complain and all they could tell me is that it will be done "soon" They did let me know, however, that I will not be getting any back pay WTF
So i got a fradulent charge on my credit card today not terribly What the Fuckey in itself, it happens. but the charge was glorious $49.99 for "social services, escort services" after clearing this up i told my immediate coworkers, we all agreed that any escort service that charges $50 is most assuredly not worth the price.
Social Services do provide staff that will chaperone a minor on a plane or other form of transport when a parent or guardian is unavailable, this is known as an escort by USAians. Still a bloody bizarre charge to get on your card!
yeah i'm going to keep thinking somebody tried to pay a hooker with my credit card, its more fun that way.
I'm pretty sure that's illegal outside the military (the Military gets around it by noting that you get the extra responsibilities immediately upon frocking, but you won't get paid more until the standard pay-increase time). If you have been promoted (or even just a pay raise), and have a letter/whatever saying effective from [ date ], they have to pay you. Including back pay. You need to talk to your supervisor. And if the supervisor isn't willing to light a fire under HR's ass for you, you need to go to the Department of Labor. (I'm an HR major)
Just quoting so you see it twice. Not only does Section know what he's talking about, he's also right, even!
The wife's sister and her mad ex must have had at least 10 different types of monopoly. I'm sure they feel it was worth it.
I have it on good authority that Star Trek Settlers is the best Settlers game out there. I did not even know that it existed.
I've seen (on youtube) Will Weaton play that - it is pretty nice conversion and does actually add something different (commanders) to the game rather than just being a reskin of the original
Thanks for the heads up. I'll have a chat with them today. I really like my job, but they have been jerking some people around with pay for a while now, which is causing massive turnover.
In York they managed to have a lightning strike that knocked out signalling on the railway, record temperatures, and golf ball sized hail stones. All in the same day.
It's highly unusual for the area, York historically has pretty mild weather so having a record number of lightning strikes, record temperatures, and the first recorded instance of golfball hail all in one day has been a bit of a shock for the residents. With all the crazy weather around the world at the moment I'm getting a little worried about how the Atlantic hurricane season is going to go...
I've always been curious as to why that happens. I've lived in the tropics practically my whole life and hail is not an uncommon occurrence. Time to attend google university
tldr: hot hair from the ground take the rain back to the cloud, where it freezes, then it falls to the ground. Very big hail off our when the hot air is so strong that the frozen ice stays a lot more into the cloud, becoming bigger and bigger until it becomes so heavy that the wind cannot keep it airborne anymore.
I'm expecting it to be ugly. Tropical storms are driven by ocean-water temperatures. The reason the US gets hurricanes rolling up the East Coast is because they follow the Gulf Stream, which is a warm-water current. The Gulf Stream is the reason Europe is warmer than the equivalent latitudes in Asia and North America.
