I'm a big fan of most of how most of the CA range looks, but I don't really care for either the Skiavoros or the Sphinx. They look dated to me, and the organic weaponry doesn't really seem to fit the rest of my models. Does anyone have some suggestions for conversion possibilities, or good proxies for these two? The proxies don't have to be from CB necessarily as I'm not playing in tournaments.

I don't like the Sphinx model either, so I just use an Overdron without the shoulder weapons.

The Sphinx sculpt is actually extremely good so I suggest you proxy it with its own model.

For the Skiavoro you could use Kiss or gussy up a spare unidron with spare parts. Maybe try to track down an older CA model like a Exrah sculpt.

Two great suggestions right there. I might magnetise the shoulder rifles on my Overdron and definitely use KISS for Skiavoros.

I also thought of using the old Avatar sculpt for the Sphinx, but they're size 7 and 6 respectively, which are different base sizes, so it would probably look weird.

I'm no fan of the Sphinx either. This is probably a model kit from i have no idea where. It's my preferred choice if the right size, but's that's long shot.

I've always thought a 4+ legged proxy would be cool. Maybe some kind of cat, but i haven't seen anything close. Maybe that Transformer cat, shockwave or something. This thing below might be cool once converted. Remove the back, add some weapons. I think the extra legs reflect it's speed. Infinity desperately needs a spider TAG that's not like Maggy. They took everything else from GitS afterall.

The second picture is a Canoptek Tomb Spyder from Games Workshop of the Necron faction.

    The other I've no idea.

It's a Tyrant from some Japanese property called Geten.

    Google-fu'd it.

Nice! That Tyrant is quite expensive by the looks of it, not even considering having it shipped from Japan. I will definitely look into the Tomb Spyder for a Sphinx.

The tomb Spyder doesn't look big but it's about the size of a Maggie.

    Story time,

When I saw the box I hated the Sphinx model, so instead I picked up a Retribution Warjack from PP and converted it, but then i actually saw a sphinx and realized the photo was just awful, so now I use a sphinx.

    The end.

Has anyone tried doing the Skiavoros in a way where he fits inside his base?

Right side is simple enough, and left side could be solved by bending the legs together, but I’m worried it will make the legs look weird.

I dunno about the "i dont like the organic weaponry" comment, given the Sphinx is carrying a large spitfire in its left hand.

For Skiavoros I used a unidron kit bashed with parts from a necron destroyer.

I would now like to retract this statement having literally crushed my sphinx while reattatching it to it's base for the millionth time at the weekend, those hip joints are not at the greatest angle. (still like the sculpt)

Mine has the hips heavily pinned with 2 bars (to avoid rotation) that go trhough both legs as well (using glue to cover the metal, then painted). It survives, at least.

Yeah it's absolutely a model that needed pinning. Same goes for connecting it to a base.
