As someone about to start Aleph with O:CF: Excited about Yadu!

As someone that's currently heavily invested in NCA: Oh what the fuck with this shit CB?

Can somebody explain me what is the difference in NCO and Executive order? They have such a minor change in them that I think there was no need to make the game even more complex and dublicate the rules?

With EO you become the Lt. replacing the previous Lieutenant

With NCO you can spend the Lt. order, but your Lieutenant does not change

    It's quite different.

Executive Order changes who is your Lieutenant.

NCO allows you to use Lieutenant Order on a different model. This means you can now use Lt order on two different models; theoretically hiding who is your Lt, but also means you can use Lt Order in risky actions without actually risking your Lieutenant.

NCO on a HMG is powerful, though it will certainly break a link

NCO is effectively inverse Strategos L1.

Yowza the Ratnik looks beastly, I'm also happy to see a 4-4 move on something clearly meant to get in people's faces versus the blackjack's slower speed.

I have to ask, why does it have fireteam duo if it's ava 1... is it going to jump up in the sectoral? If so, I may want to try and test out a pair of these guys being a bowling ball of vodka fueled power armor.

Profiles always show the AVA for generic armies, not the Sectorial AVA.

Does NCO need to be in same combat group as the Lt to spend the order?

It seems to me that NCO is effectively Strategos lvl0 and should be part of that table. Lvl0 would have no requirements and allows the user to spend the Lt order. All higher levels of Strategos gain this effect without complications.

I don't want to reply but I simply can't tell what you mean. I do get the funny side of a Lt possibly having a rule allowing them to spend the Lt order. But it's no funnier than having skills on profiles we can't use. So all things being equal, i'd prefer to just add this to the current chart instead of creating a whole new rule with it's own page.

    I just realized one complication...

We'd either have to move Strategos onto specific Lt profiles in a similar fashion to NCO/Xvisor etc or do the following...

Improve something i never quite understood. Profiles like the Skiavoros are paying for Strategos when not chosen as the Lt. That or it's a free skill for the Lt profile... which i doubt. Regardless, this would let that useless skill be useful on a non Lt Skiavoros.

Strategos is a skill that only works on Lt.s, NCO only works on troopers that aren't the Lt. why would you want to combine mutually exclusive skills?

Troopers with Strategos are almost universally taken as the LT, so adding NCO to Strategos would just enable the LT to spend their LT Order.

However my main suggestion for not doing this is that they are conceptually opposed rules - Strategos represents someone who is able to give directions very well, while NCO represents someone who can receive directions very well.

Because both skills have the same function. They both alter how the Lt order can be used.

Turning NCO into Strategos lvl0 doesn't just enable Lt's to spend their order as I'm sure you realize. It helps to simplify the rules.

However, I'm perfectly fine with your reasoning that they are conceptually opposed rules. Artistic freedom is fine. If it's more important to convey these concepts then to minimize rules bloat/text there is nothing i can say. I agree the fluff/feel is important. I just draw a different line in the sand than others.

By putting opposed concepts into the same skill path? That's the exact opposite of what streamlining should be doing.
