Unless someone has a Yaogat link, then they outplay you at MSV2. Then guess what: they don't have Camo and you have a top teir SK with the Bandit. There's always something you do way better than them (usually a few things) it's just different.

I'm not sure where you're getting more power from. You're taking nothing but fighting models but those models aren't exceptionally good fighters. You're not rocking particularly elite stats; you're just... not taking any real tricks.

I'm asking where the "more power in every category" comes from, because none of the stats available are particularly outstanding. They're not abysmal either, but outside of Intruders, nothing is really a premier combat option. The question is what the unique hook for the sectoral is? What exclusive pick is enticing enough to be worth the restrictions?

A 48" fire template weapon that hits on 19s with B2 maybe ?
I so wish I could play Wildcats well! Such single moments of excellence but I never can string it together...

    Now I don't understeand you.

For me, Corregidor has everything it needs. The last glaring hole (no Camo Infiltrator) got patched with Bandits. There are TAGs (bah, two types), there is Smoke, there is MSV L2, there are Close-Combat specialists, there is cheap yet competent Light Infantry, there's nice (if no-frills) Heavy Infantry, there are two great Air Deployed units, there's lots of midfield control, there are competent hackers and loads of REMs to set up a Repeater network.

We got tactical smart missiles, phase plasma pulse rifles, RPGs. We got sonic, electronic ball-breakers! We got nukes, we got knives, sharp sticks... This is Corregidor, after all. Sure, our plasma pulse rifle might be a kind of exxageration (at least until one of the Bandits Scavenges one off a CA model!), but they've gor it where it counts: I'm ready, man. Check it out! I am the ultimate badass! State of the badass art!

Which are all great reasons to play Vanilla. ;)

My point is just that Corregidor's best units are largely independent and not reliant on links or increased AVA to work. You just don't miss out on much, if anything by peppering a solid Corregidor list with an Interventor and maybe a couple Morlocks and/or Zeros.

I must admit I came to Corregidor by branching out on QK, and I'd miss a lot not having access to Jaguar Haris, Mobile Brigada Core, Wildcat Core and yes, even the humble Alguacile Core.
    And Big Bad Wolf.

Not that Sr Massacre or our resident Romanian hacker are unwelcome, either.

I get the point here, and I do agree. Corregidor is not bad in any way, but all of the strengths people cite are equally true of Vanilla. Intruders, Bandits, Geckos/Iguana, etc. They are just as good in Vanilla as they are in Corregidor, so they are not a reason Corregidor is strong, but a reason why Nomads are strong.

What does Corregidor have that Vanilla does not?
    • Increased AVA. How often do you need this? I never use more than two Tomcats, two Intruders, four Hellcats (Vanilla AVA), two Geckos or four Jaguars. As far as I am concerned, this is an irrelevancy. The increased AVA of Wildcats and Mobile Brigada only matters for the next point.
    • Fire Teams. Arguably, this is the main reason to play Corregidor over Vanilla. Alguaciles are cheap and no better than anyone else's LI Core, but they do the job (my usual go-to). Wildcats are controversial as some people swear by them while others view them as rubbish, but they are cheap for a MI Core and have great raw stats. Mobile Brigada get a bad rap for not being Riot Grrls, but the issue there is that Riot Grrls are too cheap for a HI Core.
    • Mercenaries. Personally, I find Valerya unappealing (UPGRADE: Expel... yay?) and McMurrough is not my kind of thing, but Senor Massacre in a Jaguar Fireteam is not bad... just not a compelling reason to play Corregidor by himself. Corregidor is not like some sectorials where mercenary units open up a number of amazing new options not available in vanilla (McMurrough arguably does, but he is one model), they just kind of exist.
In my opinion, Fireteams are the sole reason to play Corregidor over Vanilla. If Corregidor is struggling to compete with Vanilla, the issue is not Intruders, or Geckos, or any of these peripheral things: it is the Fireteams. Are the options good enough? Are they a compelling enough reason to sacrifice Interventors, Zeros, etc?

    Open in Infinity Army

5 man alguacil link with smokes, jaguar haris with smokes, killer 3 intruders and hiden lt.
    many possible misson makers.

do you have a burst 2 -ph17 smoke thrower with mimetism in vanilla ?
isnt it interesting when you have 3 intruders around ?
do you have also 2 burst eclipse grenade chance in vanilla ?
    can you make a haris + 5manlink ?
can you use spotlight and send grenades in right range with bs17 in vanilla ? Howw about not using spotlight but still sending grenades like you are using a lizard still ?
how about taking 4 specialist at one time with one single order efficiency ?
Bringing em grenades in eclipse smokes ?

corregidor has so much potential. this is just one list that i made up.

Wildcats are good, Lupe and Alguaciles are good, Massacre and Jaguars are good. They also don't have too much competition in Bakunin, you can't take a warband link in BJC, you can't take a cheap MI link because Moiras are 30+ points each, and Moderators are basically an order pool, Lupe and the BS 11 on the Alguaciles makes them more useful and capable. Plus heavier weaponry.

Bakunin is much worse off if I had a choice I would have CB work over there for a while first. Literally every unit on Corregidor can be and is used. Bakunin is one of the closest factions to getting netlisted they're borderline in an emergency state.

Isn't that the point of Sectorials though? Giving up the flexibility of Vanilla in exchange for the powerful bonuses provided by Fireteams?

I could say the same about most sectorials, who would play Steel Phallus without Enomotarchos? Who would play MO if not for the Fireteams? Who would play USARF? NCA? FRRM? Onyx? Shasvaasti? MAF? Hassasins? etc.

Even Sectorials with really unique mixes of units like QK or SAA tend to pale in comparison to Vanilla if you remove Fireteams.

That's absolutely the point. The extended discussion is whether or not the Corregidor Fireteams are actually any good.

You have multiple sources of linked smoke, and linked Eclipse smoke, how is this even a question?

The Massacre + Jags Haris/link has so much potential for board control it's insane.

I think the Jaguar Haris provides most of the support you need without much downsides. Also large links without a gunner can be difficult to move around and position well.

It's tempting to try and get Burst 5 AP+EM vs a TAG though!

I think the lack of specialist options to drag along makes it hard to use the Jaguars as a core. Massacre himself drives up the cost of the Haris more than I'd like and generally pays for a lot of CC stuff over some of the game's more functional skills. Still good and my primary reason to play Corregidor, but you can buy a lot of Morlocks for 50 points of board control. Jaguars do it pretty well on their own and White Noise is a pretty awesome option as well.

Driving up the cost is the point they were insane without him. And NBW+E/M is one of the game's more functional skills.

I actually think Bakunin is in a much better place than Corregidor is from a competitive standpoint. Corregidor doesn't have enough options available to it to counter all of the potential problems you can run into. Vanilla Nomads strength IMO is that they always have a way to solve a problem on the board. Bakunin maintains this flexibility much more than Corregidor does IMO. They get better deployment options overall (zeroes go up to AVA 3, keep BranDo), while Corregidor gets a less cost-effective and irregular Bandit. Bakunin gets to keep Zoe and Pi-Well, which Corregidor gets nothing like. If you want to hammer somebody, a Riot link is just as effective as any link Corregidor can field. You can get top-tier hacking out of Custodiers. I agree that Corregidor has strong options but they are hindered because all of their strong options are fairly linear.
