So I noticed this blurb on the Mine Dispenser Wiki page: These weapons have been widely used by the Cossack light cavalry units in Tartary, given their great effectiveness in counteracting the ferocious charges of Antipode raiders. Homemade versions of this weapon can be found in the black market, often used by members of the Bosozoku, the biker gangs of Japan and Kuraimori
I agree : cheap SK (chasseur/foxtrot), highlander and very cheap order (2 volunteers + 2 metro => 28 points for 4 orders, 3 line kazak => 27 points for 3 orders) will likely make kazak more elite (much harder to reach 16/18 orders) than Vanilla with a weakest mid-board control (a lot less SK, a lot less mine, no minelayer). On the other side, we will have a very strong long range firepower, as the strongest long range active piece of Ariadna (spetznaz, tankhunter agains HI and TAG, Vet Kazak AP HMG) are all in TAK and may end up linkable (my hope are on mixed vet kazak/line kazak FT to use my AP HMG lieutenant Vet).
Not all of those items are essential. Just because they don't have access to a chasseur doesn't mean they are helpless. Units like Scouts, Tank Hunters, and Spetz all fill in those gaps by basically doing double duty. Irmandinhos and Anitpode packs also fill the cheapo throw away role. Meanwhile Tankhunter Autocannon and Scout Ojotnik are the best choice for ARO pieces Vet Kazaks and Spets HMG are best choice Rambos Line Kazaks I do think are weaker cheap infantry option (grunt is bestest), but they still fill the cheerleader role just fine. Like when I think about it, the only units (not counting characters) I would actually miss in TAK would be Chasseurs. Maybe a para-commando/Airborne Ranger, but again if I wanted to go the AD the Spetz is still a great option. In the other sects, there are a lot of options gaps you just have trouble filling. We will see though, it will be interesting to see what new profiles become available.
When doing conservative estimations on how TAK *might* end up looking like, this is what I think of: Conservative TAK estimation ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 9 1 1 LINE KAZAK AP HMG / Pistol, Knife. But it already hints at how difficult it is to put a lot of bodies on the table. The 2 Volunteers with Chain/LSG in Vanilla are really important here..
I realise Im a little late on the Ratnik speculation... but I look at those big rocket silhouettes and get excited... but a small part of me is wondering... Are we seeing the first Ariadnan ECM? I mean... it is mentioned in the ECM fluff. 'Ariadnan ECM are similarly effective, but bulkier. Instead of nanotech micromissiles, their ECM fire a battery of rockets that create a wall of shrapnel to destroy enemy projectiles'
So based on the silhouettes from the Operation Coldfront graphic, what TAK troops do you think are coming in the set? Thanks!
Scout with boarding shotgun New medium infantry Vet Kazak T2 rifle/Spetsnaz rifle ×3 line kazaks with rifle Ratnik I'm hoping for a Vet Kazak. But I feel that whichever we don't get we'll be seeing in the beyond set.
I will be very happy with 3 line kazaks, scout with shotgun, AP rifle tankhunter for a LT option, Ratnik and truly hoping for Vet Kazak with T2 rifle over the chance of another Spetsnaz...wish there was a weekend leak of pics :)
Can't see there not being vet kazak in it. There still needs to be contents of a starter box within the operation box, and cant see a TAK starter without a Vet. Supposedly some retailers have info on the contents and the Ratnik is the only new model on the Adradna side, and the preorder model is a wardriver. My guess is: Ratnik Vet Kazak (T2 or AP rifle) Scout (BSG) Septznas (rifle) or Tankhunter (AP rifle) 3 line kazaks
Let me get this straight... Mormaers and Volunteers are okay. Domaru and Keisotsu (with or without Kempetei) are okay. Hospitallers and Magisters are okay. StarCo links are okay. But Kazaks with Vet Kazaks are just too far. Y'all confuse me.
The other operation boxes are around 180 which, even with a Vet Kazak, you need another 50-60 points to hit.

To some extent I expect that TAK will have reasonable resistance to early game CC rush with nice camo LT options. Also, our primary power pieces either have camo themselves or have SSL2 and DTWs. Not sure what else we will have, obviously, but I don't expect that it will be specifically easy to steamroll our units or assassinate our power pieces. Mixed links are a thing now. I have no idea why people object to Vet / Line Kazak mixed links. It will play very similarly to the CG/Crane link from ISS.
I loathe the Veteran Kazak and even I reckon one in a mixed fireteam just makes sense. Other similar fireteams exist, Nomads can throw MSVL1 with Sensor into a Securitate team, or msv with a B3 sniper, I'd argue that's potentially as powerful as the VKaz in a link.
I agree that a Veteran Kazak in a Kazak Fireteam would be great. Hopefully also a Veteran Kazak Haris.
I would love the vet Kazak Haris, but I think it would be too strong. Same goes for linking Vet Kazaks with line ones. I am deeply on the Ariadna side, but I fear a general power creep to occur in this game. StarCo has severe limitations that make their fireteam abilities acceptable. The only way I think a Vet Kazak haris or combining Lines with Vets would be ok is via an expensive special character Vet Kazak. Yes, I admit that I have dreamed up such a character, but that is obviously inconsequential. Remember that the Kazak sectorial is very likely to have the antipodes acting like a fireteam, and I predict that the AVA for them will be 2. No, in this case I am not going to buy a second box, but it is a possibility so the balance would just allow for people to field two antipode teams.
Vet Kazaks are going to be a really strong link. But so is every other factions Heavy infantry. And they all have a chance of getting back up when they go down. The Vet Kazak doesn't have that safety net. I wouldn't be surprised if we seen the T2 one get an swc cost to compensate for it's effectiveness in a link. And unless we see a few more units released for them link options are pretty limited.
