Yeah, the Kanren Counter-Insurgency Group sure failed in their mission to prevent or stop the insurgency. (Plus they are technically Imperial Service, not vanilla YJ units)
Although I know that IA is comming to supposedly "fix" the missing stuff from Vanilla, I honestly feel like we need the White Banner sectorial more now than the IA. White Banner seems to have more interesting utility units than just "moar HI" that the IA is bringing to the table, a unit category we absolutely do not need any more of at this point.
I don't think White Banner will necessarily bring more new units than IA will. They've got roughly 15 known profiles (depending on how the CH-HI gets sorted and how much Yisheng/Gongcheng counts for). White Banner certainly has some pretty interesting and nasty potential setups, particularly in the skirmishing and infowar department due to expected increase in Guilang AVA, but there's a real risk that this sectorial will simply boil down to "moar Guillies"
CC 18 but only APCCW, I doubt they pay any points for it either. Hac Tao has DACCW and CC 19 but with PH 14 and surprise attack that's actually pretty damn effective, better than a pistol against many targets if you're using the HMG or ML.
By my estimates, roughly 1 point less than the Hac Tao pays for their CC abilities and CC weapons (unless there's something in the Hac Tao profile that causes rounding up instead of down because of this) and roughly 2 points more than a Wu Ming. However, I'm unclear whether CC starts costing more than 1-per-3 at 16 or 19, or if it's 1-per-2 in between. They definitely pay some for it, however.
Well CB use CC on non-CC specialist to increase or decrease the efficiacy of powerful troops and in order to reflect their background. In the case of Asuras, one would expect them to be relatively capable in the background, I'm pretty sure that the APCCW is literally her fist anyway, which is way cool, and if she was CC 13 then her statline would be insanely efficient. Now, MSV3 is probably a bit overpriced (although that's questionable) and the hacker only has a combi, which is a real shame, but problems with the Asura are not that she's bloated by being CC 18 with an APCCW, probably costing about 1-2pts over CC15 with a knife.
I already compared her to a Hac Tao, they are quite similar... but the TO works at all times unless faced by MSV, while MSV are useless if your enemy has no camo/ODD/smoke levels. But yeah, just parsing from the top of my head. And she is bloated, in the sense that you don't want her to ever get near anything at melee, PH14 or not, aside from usually being escorted by one or two Myrmidons in Vanilla. The H+ loadout carrying a Combi while there is Maestro going around is a little salt on the wound, despite she being able to self-Fairy Dust (but yeah... few HI on Aleph, and aside from Posthumans, ALL on her point level but for Ajax... who is about 28 points cheaper than the Asura H+).
Unfortunately @Bostria already confirmed White Banner won't release until they're ready for the Pan-O opposite to release them together as part of a conflict narrative on Svalarheima. So there is still a really really long ass wait on that one.
Yeah, but I don't think anyone is realistically expecting anything until the end of the year anyway. Gencon's big reveal is probably going to be a vedic vs. tak box. Tunguska is already out. I think at Rumble they said Varuna was going to be 2018. So that's maybe the last big reveal for the year. Which means RTF and IA are probably end of the year early next year. It's possible we'll get some teasers at info panels at Gencon or Interplanetario (or maybe Nova? Do they go to Nova?) but I'm not expecting to see any serious movement on sculpts or rules for another 6 months yet.
Waiting 9 months to address their fuckup, is sadly realistic, but doesn't excuse how bad of a community relations move that would be.
We were warned that it was going to be a rough year for vanilla. And I know CB is rather limited in new-release capacity, so it will take a while to get everything caught back up.
I want to know what their reasoning behind that was. Because it seems to me that it just alienated many players (including myself). They gained JSA players but maybe lost Vanilla players. It would have been fine for them if they had come out with IA instead of Tunguska. But they chose not to. We don’t know what’s coming out for Gen Con but most thoughts points to anything BUT YJ. I would love to see the data of YJ ITS players Post-Uprising. Will there even be Vanilla players? Even if they do have them, how did they do?
They're expecting a lot of Yu Jing players to buy JSA stuff and don't want to split player attention (aka money) between two major releases
That's still a bad community relations plan. Ideally there should have been some new profiles ready to go. Or AVA tweaks. Or Profile tweaks (zhanshi CC tax) Or dossier previews. Or even acknowledging the damn leaked picture of the drop troop HI that had been floating around for a while. Instead we got nothing. Not even the FO profile the JSA Ninja picked up. Total radio silence besides getting poked at. When shepherding a community through a change, particularly one where you are actively taking something away, you need to: 1. Acknowledge that yes, you are causing pain 2. Demonstrate you that you have a plan to look out for that community Letting the last word be mockery or "It will be rough" before plunging a group into a void only poisons the well. I would have happily followed them down the rabbit hole if they had handled it better. Instead they lost me as a paying customer. They lost me as a participant in their upcoming campaign. They lost me as an advocate. When a new player comes up to me and asks will CB have their back if they buy in, I cannot respond with a full throated "Yes!"
