    You know what would be REALLY cool for this new HI? Smoke/Eclipse grenades ( Launcher or without. ). Might not fit thematically though, and having a smoke/eclipse dispenser appear near the enemies lines feels a bit... dirty.

    Rather than thinking of this as a CC HI and all the issues that entails how about we consider what a close range HI would bring instead. Think Kriza Boracs with a Vulkan Shotgun (and keeping Full-Auto 2) and AD3 (minus any 360 visor options).

    Thematically its a way of dropping something heavy onto the enemy lines that will dig them out of entrenched positions.

    Full Auto would certainly be rather interesting.
    Perhaps two Boarding Shotguns instead of the Vulkan though?

    No. BS/PH13(14) Smoke that drops in an ideal position to use it is not 'cool'. It's 'i want broken good things'. I spend enough time arguing against that with Nomads (unsuccessfully :'( ).

    YYs do this but have a chunk of limitations that limit their effectiveness. Vanilla YJ does not.

    Honestly a relatively mundane Shan-ji Statline with AD3 and Multi Rifle, BSG and Spitfire profiles and a HP is still really freaking awesome .

    Yeah, that would be absurdly nasty..

    And I do not hate the concept of fun, so I can definately agree that a simple AD4 HI would still be really goddamn awesome. Would prefer more creative weaponry though. A Submachinegun profile, perhaps?

    There is a slim possibility that Shooting Star is the reason for backpedalling on Full-Auto L2 and Suppression Fire. Having an AD HI with Full Auto in your DZ able to stack Suppression Fire and Full Auto might have been a lot more punishing than the Kriza did.

    Double SMG might be plenty enough for both relative cost efficiency and a very high threat as well as comboing that to fairly decent sculpting potential (let's "borrow" from this: https://flugelmeister.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/halo-2.jpg). Vulkan Shotgun would be nasty as hell, and a worthy alternative to double-SMGs, but I don't think the Vulkan is part of the Yu Jing arsenal and a Heavy Shotgun is much more likely. FAL2 would send this skyrocketing. Both in price and in level of "screw you and the spaceship you rode in on" kind of way.

    Also-
    Now that I have been reminded of that glorious image-
    I feel an even greater desire for the SMG theory to come true. In fact, imagine Full Auto LV1(Maybe 2) dual SMGs. Burst 5 SMG wielding HI that fell out of the sky sounds both amusing AND a sufficient show of raw power armor goodness that should befit the, what I am going to make a baseless assumption, HI faction.

    Well, that's good to know.

    And yeah, FAL2 would also serve as an interesting alternative to Mimetism, too.

    Mk12s might be an interesting weapons choice. Red Fury might be an interesting alternative to a Spitfire ( Don't get me wrong, Spitfire's a solid gun and all, it's just that... it's rather wide-spread among Combat Jumpers. Having a little bit of uniqueness ( Although, AD: Combat Jump HI is already a one-of-a-kind thing already, like the Daofei being a one-of-a-kind Camo+Infiltration HI and Su-Jians being goddamn Su-Jians. ) would be nice. Could also cut a corner on the SWC cost there too. ).

    Twin Weapons gives the gun a bonus of +1 to Burst. FAL1 specifically states it is not compatible with other burst MODs (just like Twin Weapons and Fireteam does)

    Broken would be if there was a MSV2 AD trooper or Impersonator or even Infiltrator... but only Ko-Dali has that.

    Nomad's "broken BS 13-14 + smoke" comes from Camo and ODD levels stacking with Smoke for some reason, I'd say. Make it so you can only ever get one "optic advantage" (smoke, or Camo levels, or...) and a lot of that things get solved. It's not like imposing a -9 (cover + smoke) is not punishing enough, frankly... And the Asura can do that. Or Atalanta. Or Teucer. All BS 14, all will have cover and likely smoke... and Atalanta is more or less in the bracket for the Intruder (Teucer is a little better because of his NWI, but loses due to range unless he's going against a reactive Intruder HMG).

    I'm not adverse to giving Eclipse smoke to more people. It's not like it will combo, just that it will enable movility.

    Kriza HMG. Grrls Core. Emily Handleman in a core.* These are all (IMO) units that go beyond cool into broken good.

    For a faction archetyed by it's REMs and MI, it's remarkably easy to do without them (Intruder excepted).

    *StarCo counts.

    Nothing in Nomads drops Smoke from ideal locations. It's just dropping Smoke onto an Intruder is remarkably simple. And Intruders are hardly broken good: they die to a crit often enough.

    Doubt YJ will get eclipse. Do think you'll get something with Smoke to make use of Smoke + MSV2. Even if it is only the Rui Shi.

    That wasn't a moan btw just a general observation.

    It's no nomad units that I know of but they do seem to get rather a few units which just have some powerful combo or another or some new rule that's just for nomads like MSV2 camo BS13 snipers, AD ambush jammers, uberfallencommfdusgsghoit-dos*, TAGs hiding KHDs, Fast pandas, Frenzy discount linkable HI, WIP 15 HD+ with BTS9 under 30pts, fast pandas (fast pandas get two mentions), just the best MI, the cheapest cheer leaders with a combi, battle REMs, sensor rems with AD, a HGL tag, EM LGL in a link, cheap doctor, AD Doctor, infiltrating skirmishers that just ARE a repeater and come with koalas, until further notice full auto. Basically everywhere you look is a nasty little trick at a tasty, tasty price.

    Pretty sure the only thing they're lacking now is bike troops, chain of command and a CC24 MA3 nutter. For pretty much all occasions there is an equivalent Nomad unit which is slightly better or costs slightly less. There is a reason there is a bostria quote somewhere about "whenever he makes a list he does it again but with nomads to see if it's better" I started playing both YJ and to a lesser extent nomads due to the versatility and range of options they have in comparison to my original factions (CA and Kazaks) and while I don't think Nomads go off the end of the power spectrum in any particular area when comparing with other factions premiere units I think they they have a lot of 2nd places which 90% of the time is all that is required and packs less bloat.

    *this was a genuine typo, and then I just went with the flow and kept hitting keys.

    Apparently the NauticalZonds are going to be bikes and I bet we get CoC in Tunguska, also the Chimera and Pupniks are way better than CC24 and MA4 (arguably the best CC unit in the game in fact).

    Pupniks+Chimera are weird. They're a unit in a game where everyone else is at best a group of individuals. Not sure you can compare them. Also, both 9th Wulvers and Ajax can accomplish a similar degree of "skill", both lagging behind versus Shinobu only slightly. Igao can accomplish similar levels of murdericity against Shinobu as a Chimera with 3 dogs can, however they will do it on their own with slightly less risk of losing "martial arts levels" to AROs.

    Uberfalls are in a different league. "Oh, you have MA5. I don't FTF you. Can anyone remember if that's B1 or B0?"

    Doubtful on the COC, unless we get a COC Merc. I think Strategos 1 is more likely.

    And nautical Zonds are 'bikes'. Still waiting to see what that's like.

    But yeah. Nomads are getting lots of nice things at the moment. That being said I expect we'll have a dry 2019... maybe I'll finally get my YJ onto a table.

    yeah that was my point when I mentioned them, they are perhaps just a little good. And if you do get a CoC and a bike our agreement that I don't main nomoids and you don't main combined is invalidated by death right?
