They're not listed as being discontinued in the article and they confirmed that they're sticking around in the comments of the Facebook announcement.
Yeah... I can't buy it when the werewolf looks like a giant were-rat... It was one of the resculpts that I was looking forward to.
So I didn't originally read the blog post in that fashion, that could have been a little more clear. I guess that means specifically only the following models are being discontinued:
While this does make me sad at least they're being upfront about it and we got a few new toys before they go. I'm hopeful that in a few years we might get dusted off the shelf and made into a proper sectorial again or at least we get some resculpts for Vanillia use.
I do like the idea that you'll still see some crusty old MRRF players at tournaments since they've kept them in the system. Plenty of opportunity for CHASSEURS and HON HON HON when the opponent isn't expecting it.
There might be a few more FRRM forces coming out of the woodwork in the next few months thanks to the Fireteams update, I'm tempted to take mine to the narrative event at Gencon now
I have Caledonia and USArianda and I have been eyeing frenchies for a while now. Well, my local gaming store will be happy to see me.
Lol, at first I was upset because I thought this is bad news and then I realised this is good news! Finally the fireteam options for MRRF have been updated! I will play them more often now. I don't see any problem, the sectorial stays in the game. People who play MRRF can continue doing so, people who don't just won't be able to start playing them. Personally, I have all the models I need, will just try to get a few more Moblots.
Even new players can start playing MRRF with how flexible proxy rules are now. There's a lot of Haqq and Ariadna models that could make a decent looking MRRF force.
actually makes me sad... i just started collecting mrrf a couple of month ago, I love the old metro models, they are some of the best model imo. You all pointed out the reasons why this isnt super bad news, but yet i feel sad. Farewell
Even though I understand that CB will never publish new models for MRRF again after the chasseur has been released, it does not feel like a farewell to me at all. Merovingia stays in the Army builder, stays in the background and will still be seen on the Infinity battlefields. For me, it is rather a " Welcome back, Rapid Response Force!"
Well i agree, as long as they stay true to what they said. The way I understood bostria and the rotating catalogue quote, they are going to take several "old" sculpts out of production, to bring back new ones some day. So one could even hope to see a big french comeback. For me it is mainly a farewell to the old sculpts, because I appreciated a couple of them quite a lot, but I understand the economic thinking behind it.
He also say it's a way to reduce the number of references on the stores shelf to make the new release more visible. Right now there is something like 500/600 references in the whole infinity range (50 to 70 per faction, 8 factions + NA2). Most stores can't put them all on their shelves so reducting the total amount by deleting old reference (and repacking others in 2 minis blisters) make sense from a business POW
