After the news about FRRMs model line being sorta gutted and discussions in the other faction forums over what their own respective factions can expect to get gutted to be re-sculpted at a later date... what would we expect to receive the same ''discontinue to re-sculpt later'' treatment among Yu Jing models? My guess would be the pre-CAD models, but then again, I am not sure what models those would be ( Though my guess would be the Celestial Guard kit and older kits. ), so I'd like to know what are the most likely candidates for re-sculpts? P.S.: The original post involving the FRRM, for context. https://forum.corvusbelli.com/threads/the-most-epic-battle-of-merovingia.23400/
The remotes, the guilang, the Shang Ji, the Bao, and maybe the monks are the only profiles that spring to mind that are still on old sculpts. I believe we have new CG SWC incoming. That being said we might not have new sculpts for all the load outs of some profiles yet. Edit: we got a new guilang with red veil, take them off the list.
There were only two existing sectorials that weren't covered in HSN3 (MRRF, Shasvastii), and of those MRRF is the only one that's not getting updated in the next expansion book. So I think Shasvastii would be the next logical guess, except we know they'll get a new sectorial list and presumably an updated model line in a while when the next book comes out. That MRRF got bumped from two books in a row for other sectorials (USAriadna and Tartary) spoke pretty clearly that it was a low priority, and is unique among armies in the game.
You don't seem to understand. Yu Jing doesn't have models discontinued to be resculpted later. They get stolen by other factions. That's how things work around here.
Cough Yaozao cough. Plus Shang Ji. Sadly no one bothered to sculpt new yaozao for the new support pack.
The Shaolin are already on the second generation and still look pretty cool. I think the Shang Ji for sure. I'd really like new remotes though.
Shang Ji, Yaokong, combirifle Guilang. Ninja hacker and sniper, Bao, Celestial Guard SWC box, Daofei multirifle, Guifeng Spec-Ops (probably, the weapon sprue is definitely), and I think the Shaolin are 2nd Gen** (but pre-CAD). The Celestial Guard hacker might be CAD, and I'm not sure about the other two REM boxes. ** CB basically went through 3 sculpting styles. First Gen got you things like the Guilang Combi and the Zanshi Gongcheng, with kinda cartoony faces and large weapons. Second Gen got you things like the Zanshi Yisheng, Keisotsu, Bao, with much more realistic faces and really damn small weapons. Then there was the 3rd generation, which was all CAD.
Good, good. Guess I should start expanding my force with the CAD kits first then. Maybe by the time I finish with those, some pre-CADs might get re-sculpted ( Would hope for a REM re-sculpt TBH. I mean, I like the way they look already, but they still feel dated. Also, getting AVA 2 Chayi would be amazing. ).
Huh, I thought they were pre-CAD, if just barely. They certainly have a larger combirifle than the CG hacker...
The combi for the CG hacker is much smaller overall, about the size of a modern female trooper's weapon.
I own the Old Celestial Guard Kit, and I must say, the CG hacker is TINY! Even amongst his buddies, his the shortest and Thinnest. Our own Bruce lee Hacker! The Kuang shi Controller towers over him by a Head, while the Multi rifle Crane does this as well the Spitfire version from the new Starter box towers over him from his stomach upwards. Though they will get a re-sculpt I will not advice against these CG sculpts or the Bao's Either which I own too, their poses and Armor is very thematic and unique. The Hacker actually has a different Helmet and Visor, his Hacking device is cool too, and his combi rifle looks the same as the new CG's (Barring Quality and Size of course, but it's not the goofy Combi with huge barrel)
I like to think of the smaller, or sometimes bigger, older figs as being from different ethnic groups. My old small female Zhanshi (turned into Bounty Hunter) is from Vietnam, But my huge shaolin is from Mongolia. There you have it. Size difference explained! lol. Oh and the weapons are new/old models of the same weapon.
