Wait, 8 new profiles? Where are you getting that idea from? I would've thought we'd get like 4-5 at best. May I know why you think we'd be getting 8?
If they're given the Securitate treatment it would effectively be an extra profile. I only heard about 5 profiles too, I doubt there's 8. We're expecting the Shooting Star, I believe some kind of small TAG was also mentioned which leaves 3 unaccounted for. Would be nice if we got another Dire Foes too to replace the one we lost at some point, not necessarily attached to the IA release.
Okay. The Red Star AD:Combat Jump HI is the one we know is to arrive. So that is one unit. Then the small TAG. That's another. This leaves us with 3-ish units. I think expecting a new Medium Infantry unit wouldn't be too far fetched? We only have two ATM, after all.
I actually couldn’t remember the number, but I knew CB had hinted at something, so that’s why I asked. In reference to the small tag, if you’re thinking blue wolf (or whatever people were guessing it might be called) I think that was supposed to be with the other sectorial, the Svalarheima/White Banner one, but my rumor info is super old at this point so I could be way off.
No, it was mentioned at one of the Q&As this year by Bostria. Blue Wolves is supposed to just be a name squadron of Guijias although who knows what they'll actually be by the time we (never) get White Banner.
I hope not. 5 new units is on the low end of the spectrum and if Shangers are included in that IA will be a very, very, slim sectorial.
My personal opinion is it's gonna use a wider range of existing models than people are hoping for, probably including some Aleph. It's probably going to look something like this: Shang Ji Yan Huo Zuyong Zhanshi Gongcheng Yisheng Hac Tao Tiger Soldiers Guijia Chaiyi Husong Son-Bae Weibing Pangguling Yaozao Lu Duan Rui Shi Warcor Externals Nagas Dasyus New profiles Shooting Stars Small TAG ??? ??? ??? That would put IA at 25 units which is about middle of the road. USAriadna is the smallest sectorial at 18, NCA is 27, ISS is slightly larger at 34 although this is artificially inflated by having several Merc options entered twice because of Regular/Irregular profiles. With Bostria counting out Dao Fei and Guilangs being unlikely, it'd make sense that the sneaky recon side of things gets outsourced to Aleph. I believe there will be a Hac Tao in the list because they're not really recon just camouflaged brute force (like a Swiss Guard), and they were clearly in the leaked IA art. Other things to expect is probably the Chaiyi will be AVA 2-3.
Some sort of specialized defensive hacker profile for protecting all these HI/REM/TAG would be very useful, if not necessary to win games against factions with pitchers and decent hacking.
Unless they rework defensive hacking devices you do not want them, ever. Right now they don't actually function because of RAW causing them to interact poorly, you're better off with a regular hacking device and Tinbots.
IA is probably the only sectorial that would make fairly universal good use of them, however, they are too expensive in and of themselves and Yu Jing is high tech enough to get White Hacking Device. I mean, imagine a Defensive Hacking Device on an irregular mercenary hacker at around 12 points? That'd not be too shabby source of Fairy Dust.
Assuming Zhanshi are in the list though, I'd pay a few more points so I could actually buff my remotes. Otherwise you're paying 12pts for a model that may have 0 purpose if your opponent doesn't have any infowar, and doesn't even generate a regular order. I highly doubt they'll do a defensive hacking device anyway, given that they phased them out of Dire Foes in the update. CB just seem to consider them a failed experiment. They'd be more likely to give out white hacking devices.
That was kind of one of my idea. Have them make up for the close combat HI that's lost. Give them a reason to use that higher CC and CCW. I really hate that JSA was considered the more Martial Arts of a Martial Arts faction. Almost all of their HI had/has Marital Arts. Why don't Shang Ji, Wu Ming, Zuyong, etc!!! Martial arts is a huge part of the Chinese culture. Just as much if not more so than Japan.
A little off from Shang Ji, but what about one as "Military Police" in IA? One of them linkable with Wu Ming to keep them in line you could say. If not a part of a link then maybe a low AVA like 1 or 2.
Probably won't get Wu Ming in IA, they fight for space too much with Zuyongs which are definitely gonna be in there and it treads on ISS's toes too much.
Only 5. Shooting Star AD HI Probably something S5 (a Su Jian analogue would be really nice, but there's also the YJ half of the Kikuchiyo project that made the Daiyokai) Possibly a TAG, but I'm expecting that to be for Svalarheima, not IA. ? ? So really only 2 known/guessed units. Hopefully some Zuyong Yisheng docs and Zuyong Gongcheng engineers, plus greatly increased Helperbot AVA. A mixed Haris or Duo might work. Crane or Hsien +1-2 Wu Ming.
They really don't. The only equipment load-out they share is HMG, and even in that case the Zuyong gets the option for an Automedikit or 0.5 SWC discount. Despite the similarity in their stats, there is very little overlap. They could quite reasonably co-exist in IA, and there'd be compelling reasons to take either one.
They fight for narrative space though. The Wu Ming are invincible army members convicted of crimes and sentenced to a penal legion. It doesn't make sense that they would then fight alongside their old units. It does make sense that the ISS would make use of them. It might open up more flexibility to have them in IA, but they are definitely a signature build of the ISS and already feeling a little diluted with Ikari running them.
I really don't think you can say stuff like this isn't overlapping with a straight face. Sectorial slots are already limited, wasting them with stuff that practically does the same thing really isn't what we want or need. When our third sectorial is probably not due until close to 2022 reusing Wu Ming isn't what we should be hoping for over more variety. A Wu Ming core link is one of ISS's signature things, handing it out to other sectorials inhouse devalues ISS.
