    hej fellows,

some troopers (like the tikabalang) do have "Religious Troop" & "Courage".
In my opinions that leads to contradictory effects as consequence:

"user automatically passes all their Guts Rolls"
    VS
    "allows its user to choose
to automatically pass any Guts Rolls"

    what do i missunderstand?
    Thanks!

    Religious Troop
    : https://infinitythewiki.com/Religious_Troop
    • The user automatically passes all their Guts Rolls without requiring a Roll.
This means that the user is forced to hold their position and cannot withdraw or seek cover after surviving an Attack.
    • However, if the player wants the user to withdraw or gain Cover after surviving an Attack, then they may make a WIP Roll. If the Roll is a success, the user can apply the Effects of failing the Guts Roll.
    Courage: https://infinitythewiki.com/Courage
    • Courage allows its user to choose to automatically pass any Guts Rolls.

  2. After reviewing the profiles, this only happens with three troops: Varangian Guard, Maghariba Guard and Tikbalangs (and the last one only in MO).

It seems like a bug, because as you say, one skill allows and another requires... and you may not be subject to the optional one, but there is no way to choose not to be under the mandatory one.

Or maybe (Disclaimer: total and complete lucubration without any kind of basis on which to support it) is that the obligatory subtracts cost from the miniature, while the optional one increases said cost... and there are both to balance the total cost.

just saw that "religious troop" only appears for the tikabalang while using the pdf function.
really weird - maybee a bug and can be ignored.

Anyhow, what would be the consequence it i "cann choose" / "pass auto" ? fuckoff.jpg

  4. The troop would pass it automatically.

The two skills would trigger at the same time, you can choose that the troop is not affected by Courage, but there is no way to not «activate» Religious Troop.

And having the combo of Courage + Religious allows that Religious Troop to choose to either stand or to fall back as the need permits, without any kind of roll.

Note that the wording for Religious has changed since N3, you can not apply the N3 logic to it.

Courage does not allow you to choose to fail a Guts Roll, Religious forces you to pass the test or to make a roll to allow you to choose to pass it or to fail it. This makes the two rules compatible with each other, meaning there is no choosing one or the other. If you want these troops to seek cover you have to make a WIP roll.

P.s. Religious doesn't even allow you to fail Guts, it forces the WIP roll to apply the effects of failing

so, you are religious and courage. Ok. And you want to hide. Make a guts rolls. With courage you pass it automatically. You hide yourself.

You want to stay. Dont use courage. I used a lot in N3, where Martial arts gives you courage automatically

If you use Courage, you will succeed the Guts Roll meaning you do not get to move.

If you want to duck for cover, you have to fail the Guts Roll which is something anyone but Religious Troopers may do voluntarily. N3 Religious was worded very differently which forced you to choose between Courage and Religious
